Apple threatens to ban free speech Twitter rival Parler from the App Store

Parler co-owner Dan Bongino told The Federalist that Apple has threatened to ban the platform from its App Store and bar it from iOS devices. In early November, the social media app and Twitter rival topped the Apple App Store list of most popular apps for the first time.

On Parler, CEO John Matze said the platform will not “cave to politically motivated companies and those authoritarians who hate free speech.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook, speech accepting the Newseum's 2017 Free Expression Award, April 18, 2017

Tristan Justice for The Federalist:

“We have clear terms of service like anyone else,” Bongino said, declaring Apple’s threat a blatant “political attack,” going on to point out that Parler has a jury system that allows users to report questionable content. “Anything that violates our terms of service, we take down. But we’re not a publisher, we’re a platform.”

Despite Facebook and Twitter hosting extremist activity on their websites, an accusation Apple has hurled specifically at Parler, neither company immediately responded to The Federalist’s inquiry over whether they are also being threatened with de-platforming by Apple. Both Facebook and Twitter have spent years masquerading as objective online platforms while acting as publishers, selectively censoring content that incriminates the companies’ political interests. Their roles as publishers came to full fruition when the companies weaponized their monopoly over the digital public square to suppress stories implicating then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in his son’s corrupt overseas business ventures.

Bongino said Parler has always complied with Apple’s App Store terms of service without compromising its integrity as a free-speech platform.

Parler, founded in 2018, was launched to serve as a free-speech alternative to Twitter and now boasts upwards of 18 million users, Bongino told The Federalist, warning that Apple’s “declared war” on the company stretches far wider than just Parler.

“Anyone who doesn’t tow the liberal line, they are now at open war with,” Bongino said, warning that if Apple prevails, there will never be another app that can operate as a free public square. “This is about having a public square where people can speak free of the surveillance state.”

MacDailyNews Take: The founders of the United States of America put the First Amendment to the United States Constitution first for a reason.

Again, in text form (feel free to copy and share), here’s Apple CEO Tim Cook, accepting the Newseum’s 2017 Free Expression Award on April 18, 2017:

Art and music, design and performance, opinion, fiction, provocation, are what we work to enable. That fills us with such a sense of pride as well as a deep sense of responsibility because we know that these freedoms require protection; not just the forms of speech that entertain us, but the ones that challenge us, the ones that unnerve and even displease us. They’re the ones that need protection the most. Unpopular speech, unpopular art, and unpopular ideas; speech that questions the people in power.

It’s no accident that these freedoms are enshrined and protected in the First Amendment. They’re the foundation of so many of our rights. We means we all have a stake, and a role, in defending them. This is a responsibility that Apple takes very seriously… We work to defend these freedoms enabling people around the world to speak up.”

It will be interesting, to say the least, to see if the Newseum (now defunct, tellingly) was right or wrong with that award.

And, now for some George Orwell quotes (a book of whose, “1984,” Apple once based a very famous television commercial):

• If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.

What is needed is the right to print what one believes to be true, without having to fear bullying or blackmail from any side.

• Big Brother is Watching You.

Apple Computer’s “1984” commercial:

Today we celebrate the first glorious anniversary of the Information Purification Directives.

[Apple’s hammer-thrower enters, pursued by storm troopers.]

We have created for the first time in all history a garden of pure ideology, where each worker may bloom, secure from the pests of any contradictory true thoughts.

Our Unification of Thoughts is more powerful a weapon than any fleet or army on earth.

We are one people, with one will, one resolve, one cause.

Our enemies shall talk themselves to death and we will bury them with their own confusion.

[Hammer is thrown at the screen]

We shall prevail!

[Boom!]

On January 24th Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you’ll see why 1984 won’t be like “1984.”

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak for The Atlantic, December 21, 2010:

The Internet has become as important as anything man has ever created. But those freedoms are being chipped away. Please, I beg you, open your senses to the will of the people to keep the Internet as free as possible… I don’t want to feel that whichever content supplier had the best government connections or paid the most money determined what I can watch and for how much. This is the monopolistic approach and not representative of a truly free market in the case of today’s Internet.

        1. Michael Tracey gets it:

        2. I have been an Apple user and supporter since the 1990s. If Apple starts censoring my ability to exercise my free speech, they will lose my substantial wallet as a customer personally and my business’ even more substantial presence in the Apple economy, much as I would hate to do so.

The denial of the ability to exercise a right, is the denial of that right. Muzzling the public, however it is done, is not Apple’s purview, nor is it proper for them to put their stockholders’ investment at such a risk.

        3. Let us suppose that your local chapter of the American Communist Party started gathering regularly in your business to plan terrorist attacks on government facilities. My guess is that you would assert your power to make them move elsewhere.

        4. These companies don’t have to provide anyone with a platform for any kind of speech. They have the right to decide what is allowed on their servers and networks.

    1. Notice that the terrorist Ayatollah of Iran and Chinese Communist Party are still allowed to tweet, but not President Trump.

That tells you all you need to know.

Unless you’re a Dem/Lib/Prog who’s too far gone, like this fascist idiot:

      1. Oh champion of corporate rights…
        Citizen’s United is your baby.
Corporations have every right to decide what runs on their property.
Apple even decides on things that run on devices that are not their property.

Regardless… Trump is more damaging to the US than Iran. Iran never attacked the Capitol. And so much more. Good riddance!

        1. ” Iran never attacked the Capitol”

No, most likely a few Antifa goons did in order to precipitate an outcome that unfolded pretty much like what we just saw.

BTW, for those with limited knowledge, Iran was behind the khober towers bombing that killed scores of Americans.

        2. “So it was antifa that Trump told to march down to the Capital? Really?”

No. Most likely there were left-wingers in that crowd posting as Trumpers and they were there with the goal to make them look bad. Left-wingers are known for doing this, I come across many articles over the year where leftists faked things on racism, homosexuality, abortion, etc. in order to discredit the right.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this behavior in comments on right-wing web sites where the posters had right-wing sounding names but wrote the most vile racist sexist, homophobic stuff. I’m sure much of what was vile on Parlor was from leftists posting as right-wingers. And that said, I’m sure some of that vile comments was from right wingers as well.

        3. STOP LYING!!! THESE WERE TRUMP SUPPORTERS THAT ATTACKED THE UNITED STATES CAPITAL DIRECTED BY DONALD TRUMP. I know you are ashamed, you should be. I know you feel like a traitor, you are. The only way back for you is to first stop lying. Antifa stands for, is short for, anti-fascism. Because you don’t know how to use a dictionary nor the App on your phone I will place the definition for fascism here: an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.
          • (in general use) extreme authoritarian, oppressive, or intolerant views or practices: this is yet another example of health fascism in action. The term Fascism was first used of the totalitarian right-wing nationalist regime of Mussolini in Italy (1922–43); the regimes of the Nazis in Germany and Franco in Spain were also Fascist. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one national or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. So you are telling us you hate the group that is against fascism. YEAH you are a TRAITOR !

        1. Oh…and BTW…Lisa Murkowski is the only Republican with balls. If there were more patriots like her, I would think the party would become wildly popular among voters. The republicans would no longer have to rely on threats, violence and the continuous drive to retain power by selling their moral compass and indeed their souls.
She wants Trump out….now. That is the sentiment of most Americans except morons like FT who support Trump because the relish being evil, vile and self centered.

      2. It does tell me all I need to know, that Lyin’ Donnie is a bigger threat to our national security than the terrorist Ayatollah of Iran and Chinese Communist Party. Tell me something I don’t know.

      3. You are on the wrong side of history. What we have all been aware of is that Trump has always been the WORST choice for America. He is a failed businessman that had to go into reality TV because his house of cards was collapsing. Trump sold an image of a billionaire business leader created thanks to NBC and his TV show. He proceeded to take his show into our national political stage. Now you see the results of having an unprepared egomaniac acting irresponsibly erratic and regularly disseminating falsehoods. Sure, 74 million lowbrow, uneducated racists bought into the ploy. We then get the consequences of the GOP, allowing this to perpetuate for four years.

      1. If you are a business that uses Twitter’s Jack Dorsey’s SquareUp for merchant services to take credit card payments from your customers, Get Out Now! Yes, beat the Christmas rush of lunatic Jack before he takes his dimwitted antics to SquareUp and starts picking and choosing what businesses meet HIS standards of ideological thought and actions.

Might I suggest as a replacement to Jack’s America company, a German owned company with a sane CEO and sane business ethics called SumUp. My business has!

      1. Hey FT you moron, liberals do indeed champion free speech. Unlike your white supremacist pals, they do not champion hate speech, racist speech and terrorist activities like storming the capital building with evil intent. They do not condone murdering police just doing their job protecting the building, or people who wear Camp Auschwitz, or Viking horn helmets and who are actually partying and vandalizing.
You should be a bit more discriminatory among the friends you choose.

        1. “Liberals do indeed champion free speech.”, Buster says. Yeah sure, here’s the Liberal’s version of Free Speech… ‘Liberals believe in Free Speech, NOW SHUT UP!’

Unlike your black supremacist pals, who do champion hate speech, pull the race card and participate in terrorist activities like storming American cities with evil intent, like arson, property damage, looting, murders, meh, the usual.

They do not condone an unarmed woman Patriot demonstrator exercising her Constitutional Right being murdered by capitol police “who were just doing their job protecting the building”. Think about that, you just put more stock in a brick, then a human. Oh wait, you are on the side that freely murders the most innocent amongst us, unborn babies.

Your side wears Pussy Hats so go be a Fashion Critic of them, because there you will find some goofy, whacky threads, while they too are actually partying and vandalizing. In the age of COVID, wasn’t it some dipshit Liberal/Progressive Democrat politician in Seattle who called the takeover of CHAZ a “Summer of Love”, you know, before the harrassment and murders began and not by the cops. Complete with all that graffiti and garbage everywhere and let’s not forget their attempt at farming and their “Supplies Needed” sign. They were about as prepared with their takeover of a city block as the DC demonstrators were in their so called “Coup” attempt, an unfounded labeling by some masturbating fool if there ever was one. Why yes, it was Seattle’s very own Mayor Jenny Durkan. What a “Feckless C*nt” she turned out to be (a little Progressive Comedian Samantha Bee lingo for you, you know, for when your side goes high, when ours goes low!). Fortunately for them, Fraudulant Joe will be in office soon and all the low life mayors and governors of lockdown cities of lockdown states will seem far more superior, intellectually, then their new babbling fool in the White House.

I tell you, it’s funny when you morons think you have moral superiority over the Right/GOP/Conservative and their base. I’m not claiming to be perfect, but I sure do grin and smirk a lot when you people always open the door in your face when you think you have “Righteousness”. But remember this, you can’t have rightiousness without the Right!

You sound as if you would kiss Nancy Pelosi’s ass with that stupid post. Yuck, the thought, the vision, my mind, my eyes!!

Maybe you are the one who should be a bit more disciminatory!

        2. Let us assume you are at home when a potentially armed gang gathers on your front lawn, chants hate messages directed at you and your family, smashes out your windows, and one of them begins to climb through the barricaded, shattered door. I assume you keep a firearm for home defense. If you use it under those circumstances, is it murder?

Now let us assume you are a Capitol Police officer. Your highest duty is to protect the 535 members of the US Congress. You and your fellow officers have barricaded the doors to the House Chamber, but a potentially armed mob outside is smashing out the windows and now somebody is climbing through the hole. If you use your service weapon under those circumstances, is it murder?

        3. I agree she was breaking the law, but I’ve viewed the situation and a warning shot or 2 would have stopped the progress. They where unarmed. The police was 5 feet away. Looks like a glock 19. He most likely is a trained shooter. His MOA on 15 feet is most likely under 6 inches. He could put that bullet where he wanted. He could easily put the bullet in a leg or shoulder. he aimed for the head. First shot. Also many Capitol police opened doors and barricades. For months we have seen police spit at, bricks thrown at, and they always back down. Again she was in the wrong and stupid, but so was Rayshard Brooks (wendy’s incident). Some how I bet we dont see marches and protest for her life.

        4. Given that peace officers fatally shot 999 civilians during 2020, assuming that “they always back down” is pretty foolish. It would also be pretty foolish to think an officer would shoot to wound; the training is to take a shot that will neutralize the threat as surely and quickly as possible. There was no way for the officer to know the aggressor was unarmed. The fatal mistake, as one of the rioters observed, was the assumption, “They weren’t supposed to shoot us. They should be on our side.” She died because she made bad assumptions.

        5. ‘you can’t have rightiousness without the Right!‘

Hahahah…brilliant turn of phrase. Almost as good as ‘ Your side wears Pussy Hats ’

But the best is: ‘I’m not claiming to be perfect’.

Good…because you seem to be a hater that doesn’t care if innocent people are killed in the line of duty. Do you also crap on the military too that risk their lives so you can spout your dipshit idiocies?

FT is a moron and it looks like he has a friend….you! Anyway 11 more days then peace and I will no longer have to be concerned with so many ‘good ol’ boys’ trying their hand at creative writing.

        6. Yes true liberals do support free speech just as conservatives support free speech. But both marxist (far left) and fascist (far right) have no room for independent thought, logic or debate. So its the radical extreme on both sides that threaten freedom. Make no mistake the people that broke into the capital are no different than the Marxist anarchist that have been burning down cities, private business and occupying city blocks with evil intent.

There is clear evidence that the vast vast majority of the protestors at the capital where peaceful and trump supporters are seen trying to stop the destruction of property. Some trump supporters did break into the capital and some antifa supporters where among the protestors. Both are equally criminal. But the fact is the MSM gives one group a pass and the other group not so much

the most damming thing is how big tech is on the side of Marxism and is willing to cancel anyone loosely associated with people or ideas they dont like.

Even the ACLU (no friend of trump) is supporting Trump and warning against big tech.

      2. Just because you have a right to say what you want (within certain limits), doesn’t mean I have any obligation to help you spread your message. You might also want to check into those limits on free speech. All speech is NOT protected by the 1st Amendment, which only applies to government censorship.

  1. I have already seen all this in USSR.
We knew jouenalists are lying. It was not surprise. At least we were able to listen Voice Of America.
Unfortunately voice of America is dead now.

        1. Actually looking at the current standings the overall feeling is that Biden will have a majority in the house and senate for his entire term. You can believe that, or not, but if you take a good look at the seats that are coming up it’s pretty easy to see.

        2. If by Biden’s term you mean how long his puppet master Obama allows him to stay.

‘Don’t Underestimate Joe’s Ability To F**k Things Up,’ – Obama*

          *The King F**cker Upper

        1. If there’s a God and this God created the Earth, everything has a linkage to God…including politics. No, please don’t knee-jerk to simple thinking…the thought doesn’t have to support theocratical govt.

        2. Oh there most certinley is a GOD and when you remove him from education, look what happened?? Evil moves in. Libs have run the indoctrination of the minds of our kids for long enough for them to believe the lies they teach.

If you tell a lie long enough—
          People will eventually believe it.

          Remind you of anyone??

  2. Well…they are a private company whose products have rules and regulations, and plans for this attempted coup were discussed for roughly a month on that platform so…I think I can see why  is reluctant to have this app in their store.

    1. But the use of Twitter, an app STILL on Apple’s App Store which was used to coordinate Antifa riots is perfectly fine for Tim and the boys in the safe, hallowed halls in Cupertino. Seriously?!?

I wonder how Apple would feel about Twitter if used by Antifa to visit Apple’s Space Ship? Would it be the same as those worthless cuck Democrats who were fine with death, destruction and riots elsewhere in America’s cities by a myth, but have a broken window in DC’s Hall of Congress and it’s ‘Hell no, not in my house’. Enjoy the next MASA Biden* couple of years of Making America Sh^t Again!

      1. Perhaps English is not this reader’s first language or maybe Apple’s infamous autocorrect struck again.

I thank him for his comment. I was able to figure it out easily, but I’m not stupid.

  3. MacDailyNews is too stupid to understand that there is no Constitutional right to spread your lies when you are on my property. Private companies have every right to control how their products are used!

      1. No, that’s just an excuse for bigotry. These people are calling for violence, which isn’t actually legal. And since that violence has been demonstrated, then it’s proper to remove the areas in which they talk about, and plan it. If it were on the other foot, and Democrats were doing this, you, and the others here would be screaming for its ban, and would be cursing Apple for not having already done it.

        And you know that’s true.

        1. Fact Check your own stupid post. The Left has done nothing but persecute and call for violence on the Right, where was the Left on MDN condemning and where was the Right on MDN calling for censorship?

“There needs to be unrest in the streets” – Democrat MA Rep. Ayanna Pressley

“Protesters should not let up” – Democrat VP Kamala Harris

“I just don’t know why there aren’t uprisings all over the country. Maybe there will be.” – Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they are not welcome anymore, anywhere.” – Democrat CA Rep Maxine Waters

And Antifa been using Twitter to coordinate attacks, where was Jack, Twitter, Apple, Tim then?

        2. Mel, please respond to “the Humanity/the Stupidity’s” response to your post.
Democrats were doing this…using all of the available/major news outfits possible (maybe excluding Fox).

Btw, “these people” are calling for violence…talking about bigotry, Mel.

No, I don’t “know it’s true.” Nice try at a presumptuous intellectual slider.

      1. You’re right. They have been unabashed Trump supporters. They apparently agree with his racist, religious bigotry, and have, since he first started his 2016 campaign.

        They know what they’re doing.

        1. MDN made Tim Cook give a speech in 2017 that proves him to be a hypocrite.

Man, the MDN crew really knows what they’re doing! And how to build and operate a time machine, hack Tim’s iPad, make him read platitudes that bury and embarrass him less than 4 years later.

        2. There you go again with your pre-judging…read prejudice.

I know not what you presume I know.

Let’s just turn that around and say you say such because of your intolerance and the prejudice moves you to put the opposition in the same penalty box b/c you disagree with their paradigm. Btw, I’m not talking about racism & bigotry.

    1. Apple says don’t use their products to view porn. How many times have you violated their Terms of Service? Being a private company wanting to control how their products are used, what if Apple repossessed your computer, iPad and phone and permanently bans you from purchasing Apple products to misuse over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. And that’s just one day!

  4. Well, it’s not like they can’t just take it off the store and simply create a web app. Like other sites that carry content Apple doesn’t want to be aligned with has done. It’s not even worth complaining about. Just make the change and keep on maintaining the safe space for conSnowflakes.

Because if you don’t stand up for the stuff you don’t like (for example, Black Lives Matter), when they come for the stuff you do like, you’ve already lost.

I’m fairly certain that the Trump supporters here didn’t stand up for BLM so, yeah, they’re coming for the stuff YOU like now.

    1. No, we don’t stand up for BLM because BLM is a marxist organization. Which, if you investigated BLM beyond blindly accepting their name, you’d know.

Like the Soviets, Black Lives Matter Purges Its History

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

      — George Orwell, 1984

How soon until Apple, Twitter, Google, Facebook, etc. ban George Orwell?

      1. Free speech for those we agree with isn’t free speech. You cannot call for the suppression of BLM and then complain about the suppression of the Proud Boys. Apple has the First Amendment right to control the content on their own platform. Nobody else has a First Amendment right that overrules Apple’s rights. It gets to control its own message… not you, and not the Government.

        1. Tell me why it took a while for Apple to grow a conscience? Parler, with its TOS, has been on the App Store since when? And Apple was just fine with that. Now, apparently some loud mouth shit heads are getting to Apple causing them, a company, to dictate to another company what they need to do to their TOS if they want to remain on the App Store.

That would be like me finding Jesus and after years of buying Apple products while Tim Cook was CEO, I now inform Apple that homosexuality goes against my religious beliefs and personal ethos that it is harmful and confusing to my children and Apple needs to modify, by firing Tim Cook and replacing with someone who aptly meets my religious and personal acceptance if they ever expect me to buy another Apple product ever again.

APPLE, IF YOU ARE READING THE BLOGS DO YOU SEE HOW STUPID YOU ARE BEING?!?

By the way, Parler CEO responded, basically telling Apple to kiss his ass. Good for Parler. You have a new fan. Rotten Apple.

        2. “Apple needs to modify, by firing Tim Cook and replacing with someone who aptly meets my religious and personal acceptance if they ever expect me to buy another Apple product ever again.”
And, that’s well within your right to do so! At ANY time! However, nothing’s going to happen with that because you lack any leverage over Apple, unfortunately for you. I mean, you could, right now, stop buying Apple products and Apple wouldn’t even notice.

        3. You are missing the entire premise of my post. Do you now understand why I affectionately nicknamed you “Zero Intelligence”?!?

Sure it’s stupid to think that Apple would change for the sake of change based on MY terms alone. It is even more stupid for Apple to get into the weeds of another company and their operating ethos. I was illustrating the absurd with absurdity, but who the Hell does Apple think they are.

Sure, Apple can pull Parler off the app store and yes, I am but one person, however, there are 80 million potential customers like me that can tell Apple to go pound sand if Apple wants to become the new Commie China Censorship Company of Silicon Valley, dictating to Parler what they need to do to get their product back in the app store which again, a few days ago, Apple was just fine and dandy with Parler and their TOS. What F’ing hypocrites and spineless Lemming cowards Apple is if they think they have to play to the Left’s commands. Make’s that whole “Think Different” slogan and “1984” Superbowl tv ad just some worthless tripe from a company no better then the IBM’s and Microsoft’s of the world.

Do you know Michael Jordan’s politics or his stance on any issues in today’s societal debate? Me neither. You know why that is? Mr. Jordan is a business man and he is not going to say or do something that may alienate half his business clientelle. It would not make good business since. Which is smart on his part and he still has his views and his customers!

Apple should learn something from Michael. A good many of their customer base can leave. Their products can be substituted and their products are not necessary to have in order to live, meaning, all of us can do without Apple, however, Apple can not do without all of us.

All you posting your little quips about the Right, have you ever visited the underground Right? By that, I mean people who are not professionals, you never heard of them as they are small time actors but with an ever growing audience of like minded people who are migrating to different platforms. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube doesn’t want them. Fine. But, they aren’t silencing them, I can assure you of that. And these little communities when added together can become inudating to Apple’s or any company’s bottom line if they pass the word to go elsewhere, or try this product from this company. It’s out there. Just saying. My vocabulary has greatly expanded from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. I had no reason to increase it. Now I do and have. And Google and Apple can easily be added to that ever expanding vocabulary.

        4. “there are 80 million potential customers like me that can tell Apple to go pound sand if Apple wants to become the new Commie China Censorship Company of Silicon Valley”

So, do it. Get all 80 million customers to tell Apple to go pound sand. Will that work? Yes. ABSOLUTELY! Apple will sit up and listen then for SURE.

Will that ever happen? ahhhhhhhhh no. 🙂

        5. The Fairness Doctrine could be applied to broadcasters because they held limited-term licenses as trustees of a scarce public resource. When the doctrine was adopted in 1949, any given location only had about seven or eight possible television channels. The doctrine was dropped in 1983 after the UHF spectrum and cable TV opened up the possible number of information sources.

Since the Internet is not a scarce public resource, it would probably be a First Amendment violation to require a license. It would certainly be unconstitutional to impose content requirements.

      2. “No, we don’t stand up for BLM because BLM”… aahhhh, wait wait, where’s that link that allows me to LITERALLY not stand up for something I don’t like… Oh yeah here it is “a marxist organization.”

      1. @Oh Boy, We’ve Got A Live One Here, perhaps you should actually read the earlier comments above about the danger of not standing up for what you are required to stand up for.

  5. From Wikipedia:
The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prevents the government from making laws which regulate an establishment of religion, or that would prohibit the free exercise of religion, or abridge the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the freedom of assembly, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, as one of the ten amendments that constitute the Bill of Rights.
Although the First Amendment applies only to state actors,[1] there is a common misconception that it prohibits anyone from limiting free speech, including private, non-governmental entities.

Private organizations are not constrained by the First Amendment.

MDN Editors: tread very carefully on the events of the last few days. If you want to promote the lies and actions of mobs and fanatics then you will lose participation from reasonable people who come to this site to talk about Apple and their products.

Apple is not alone in removing this type of app. Google have removed it from their App Store.

    1. MDN Editors: tread very carefully on the events of the last few days. If you want to promote the lies and actions of mobs and fanatics…

Is that a threat? It sounds like one.

Where above, while defending free speech and quoting Tim Cook, George Washington, Ben Franklin et al. are MDN “promoting the lies and actions of mobs and fanatics?”

      Hint: They’re not.

Actual “reasonable people” understand this easily.

Another hint: Too much MSNBCNN. What’s left of your mind is mush.

      1. As any real lawyer knows, the First Amendment does not protect the right to cry fire in a crowded theater. Nor does it protect the right to organize an assault on the national Capitol building or to use force or the threat of force to coerce public servants in connection with their official duties. Those are crimes, and those who knowingly assist in the commission of a crime are equally guilty of the offense. Apple is not obliged to commit crimes or tolerate the commission of crimes by others on its platform. There is nothing in the First Amendment that requires it to do so.

        1. Be for real, there is so much hate on Twitter directed towards people with different points of view. They truth is Apple, like the CCP selective chooses what voices it allows based on its on interests. Regardless of political affiliation, If you don’t see a problem with the double standard then you most likely don’t see a problem with slave labor camps and organ harvesting of prisoners of concise (didn’t break a law but in prison for religious beliefs) Apple dose not see a problem with these and will gladly continue to work with the CCP as long as the 35% profit margin is maintained.

          https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/apple-knowingly-used-child-labor-supplier-3-years-cut-costs-2020-12%3famp

        2. Are you salaried at your shill farm or just PBTP (Paid By The Post)? Do you get the lying meme words like “assault” from your master or do you just parrot your mass media overlords? The second is probably much more efficient.

        3. If using physical force to injure the peace officers guarding a building (killing one in the process), using the threat of force to disrupt lawful government operations (in fact, constitutionally mandated government operations), coercing public servants, and vandalizing a historical landmark isn’t “assault,” what would be?

        4. There in lies the rub TxUser. “Disrupting lawful government operations”, these mostly peaceful demonstrators were not disrupting lawful government operations. Since when is it lawful to endorse a criminal act? It is the demonstrators belief, along with video, affidavits from people working the elections, Data Scientists (I thought we must believe science), and actions by those before, during and after the election that made the election compromised by fraudulant means in a variety of places, in a variety of cities in several states in the eyes of a lot of people. Voter fraud is an illegal act. A crime on the books. What occurred might be classified RICO status who knows what coordination went into this. You can roll your eyes and yell conspiracy theory all you want. I’d just remind you if Democrats like Obama and Hillary are capable of the Russian collusion scheme as an FBI agent exclaimed to his mistress, “an insurance policy” and whatever the point was in doing that and how if in the end, a positive outcome would benefit Hillary, well, I wouldn’t put it past Democrats to pull even more underhanded bullshit, and precedence is on MY side. There has been nothing but obfuscation in their attempt to find out. You would think, the courts, the media, the Supreme Court, both political parties, both states and Federal representatives, the AG, DOJ, FBI, and CIA would move Heaven and Earth to either dispell or confirm. They didn’t. Never looked seriously at the evidence and never gave it a second thought. So, you might consider them co-conspirators of an illegal act who just gave 80 million people the finger and told them to F-off. Doing stupid stuff, like disenfranchsing people of the sacred right to vote in that way, gets Congress a visit.

“(in fact, constitutionally mandated government operations)”, soooo, we are picking and choosing what the Constitution mandates now are we? The US Constitution states, “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof” and not the courts or Supreme Courts of the states as was done. Not by state’s Secretary of State as was done. Only the Legislature as the chanes for the 2020 election was not done. So, should these changes made for this election, changes that did not follow the Constitution’s clear and specific directive, should those votes be invalidated becasue the changes to the election time, place and manner were not passed by the Legislature as the Constitution specifically requires?

“coercing public servants, and vandalizing a historical landmark isn’t “assault,” what would be?” How about coercing Republican Observers from monitoring the opening of polling stations, the vote cast, and the counting and tabulation of results by agitators whose job it was in getting them unlawfully kicked out of the building so Republicans could no longer observe? And the possible destruction of paper ballots after the election and the wiping clean of electronic voter machine data banks of the voting machine even when told to preserve by the courts, if that is not “fraud”, what would be?

The report claims that the “tabulation log for the forensic examination of the server for Antrim County from December 6, 2020 consists of 15,676 individual events, of which 10,667 or 68.05% of the events were recorded errors.” The Federal Election Commission allows a maximum error rate of just 0.0008 percent.

“The error rate detailed in this report has implications for every state where we have litigation, and it comes on a day when officials are blocking legislators from having their say about elections in their states,” Kline said. “This joins with other compelling evidence that the elections in these states cannot be certified under the law.”

Investigators believe the error rate in Antrim County is an intentional flaw built into the software in order to compel “bulk adjudication” of ballots by election officials — a process that allows alteration of ballots with minimal or no meaningful oversight. Antrim County maintains records of the adjudication process for previous elections, but records for the 2020 election were either deleted or never entered, making it impossible to determine whether adjudicated ballots accurately reflected the intent of the voters.

The Michigan Bureau of Election also issued a memorandum on December 1 instructing election clerks that electronic poll book files must be deleted from all laptops and flash drives. The Amistad Project is asking judges in all swing states to issue emergency orders preventing state and local officials from destroying such evidence.

“In Michigan, the Secretary of State has ordered deletion of e-poll books and other evidence and also has taken affirmative steps to seal forensic evidence regarding the flaws in the operation of Dominion machines from both the public and from legislators who need access to this information in order to perform their constitutional duty,” Kline said. “This joins with the Michigan Attorney General threatening legislators with criminal investigation and possible prosecution if they disagree with her, and the Michigan Governor and other officials shutting down the peoples’ house and preventing them from gathering today to perform their constitutional duty.”

          SOURCE Amistad Project

Yeah, sounds like a fraud free election to meeeeeeeee!

        5. Federal law provides that we have 51 individual elections for President, one in each state and DC. It further provides that each jurisdiction is responsible for establishing its own procedures for holding the election, appealing the outcome, and certifying the results. If the results are certified as final under the state seal by the governor, the other 50 jurisdictions and the federal government are required to regard the certified returns as “conclusively presumed correct.”

Someone who is dissatisfied with a state election must seek his remedies under state law, either in a state court or a federal court applying state law. Unfavorable decisions can be appealed, but once those remedies have been exhausted, that is the end of the road. The Federal Government (Executive, Legislative, or Judicial) cannot substitute its judgment for the state’s. Private individuals certainly cannot substitute their judgment on what is a criminal act for the judgment of the courts and other state authorities.

That isn’t just a legal technicality—it is at the core of the federal Constitution’s balance between national and state rights. If Congress could overturn state elections, the states would no longer be the subordinate but sovereign entities that the Constitution provides. California elections could be overturned by a Republican Congress and Wyoming elections by a Democratic Congress. As Senator McConnell said, that would put our constitutional republic into a “death spiral.”

Vigilantes, whether in the form of a mob or the form of a congressional junta, cannot be allowed to overpower our Constitution. If you can justify vigilante justice against Congress for doing something that you believe to be wrong, you can justify Lynch Law against individuals you believe to be wrong. The crowd at the Capitol built a gallows and was chanting, “Hang Mike Pence!” You may imagine that as a peaceful demonstration, but I bet that the Vice President’s family (whom the Secret Service whisked out of the Senate Chamber with him) did not see it that way. Nobody except a few fanatics sees it as lawful.

        6. TxUser show me where I can find all your posts stating Apple and their App Store offering twitter apps and the company Twitter product being used by BLM, the Mythical Antifa and Democrat politicians in the Capitol to either organize assaults, riots, property destruction, looting, and murders of citizens on the cities of this nation or the threat of force to coerce public servants of the Trump Administration in connection with their official duties of the last four years. Where the hell were you? Those are crimes too, and those who knowingly assist in the commission of those crimes are equally guilty of the offense, Apple, what say you, guilty as charged?

        7. Twitter did not market its app to users who intended to violate its user agreement and it removed violators when they were pointed out. Parler is specifically marketed at users who expect to violate Twitter’s rules, and it does not remove anybody. Calling on citizens to rally is one thing, but facilitating an open discussion of how to apply the threat of illegal force to the US Congress is something else.

How would you feel about the hypothetical Dillinger app, marketed to bank robbers and used to plan robberies? If the FBI complained about Dillinger to Apple, do you think they should keep the app available in the Store? How about Caliphate.app, used by Islamic extremists to plan terror attacks, including one that cost five lives? Would it be censorship if Apple took Caliphate down in response to credible evidence from the Department of Homeland Security? Could Apple “censor” Babysex.app?

The answer is obviously yes. Every platform draws lines, and where to put those lines should be determined by the platforms themselves, not the robbers, not the terrorists, not the pedophiles, and certainly not the government.

        8. “As any real lawyer knows, the First Amendment does not protect the right to cry fire in a crowded theater.”

No real lawyer would use that as an example. You are a fraud!

        9. The phrase is a paraphrase of Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.’s opinion in the United States Supreme Court case Schenck v. United States in 1919. Holmes was assuredly a real lawyer, from his graduation from Harvard Law in 1866 until his retirement in 1932.

        10. “It was only a year later that Holmes attempted to redefine the standard. In the 1919 case of Abrams v. United States, the Justice reversed his position and dissented, questioning the government’s ability to limit free speech.”

          https://constitutioncenter.org/blog/schenck-v-united-states-defining-the-limits-of-free-speech/

No real lawyer would use “As any real lawyer knows, the First Amendment does not protect the right to cry fire in a crowded theater.” as a reference!!!!!

        11. Next time, Useless, read the article you link. Holmes never abandoned the notion that you could not lawfully cry fire falsely in a crowded theater. He did refine his argument that the government could prohibit speech that created a “clear and present danger” by arguing unsuccessfully that the danger must be serious and imminent. The current standard is rather different, but it still allows the government to prohibit terroristic threats such as intentionally creating a panic. So, yes, any real lawyer would know that falsely crying fire is not protected speech. Neither is speech in connection with a criminal conspiracy, incidentally.

        12. “As any real lawyer knows, the First Amendment does not protect the right to cry fire in a crowded theater.”

          From The Atlantic:
It’s Time to Stop Using the ‘Fire in a Crowded Theater’ Quote
          https://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2012/11/its-time-to-stop-using-the-fire-in-a-crowded-theater-quote/264449/

“…it was never binding law, and the underlying case, U.S. v. Schenck, is not only one of the most odious free speech decisions in the Court’s history, but was overturned over 40 years ago.”

        13. The changes in free speech law after 1919 did not alter the basic principle that a person whose speech constitutes an unlawful incitement to serious, imminent harm cannot claim the protection of the First Amendment. Every state has laws that prohibit falsely crying “fire” in a crowded theatre with the intent of setting off a panic. The Model Penal Code provides for a prison sentence of up to ten years. That IS binding law, and it is permissible under the First Amendment. So are the laws in every state prohibiting incitement to riot and conspiracy to incite a riot.

        1. “Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!” Then, after the people coming made it clear that they planned more than just a protest, “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and Congressmen and women.” Any idiot—and Trump is no idiot—would have known what would happen. Five people died, and it was all predictable and avoidable.

I won’t dignify the “moon landing didn’t happen” crack about Antifa being responsible for events that right-wing extremists were live-streaming under their own names on their own long-established accounts.

        2. All you’ve done is demonstrate your own prejudice. There are no facts tying all of those statements together.

“Any idiot would have known what would happen.” I knew the protest would have gone fine and be perfectly peaceful had Antifa and BLM not intervened and caused violence. The possibility that those marxists would show up is why I didn’t want to take my young family.

Unlike you, I wasn’t afraid of the people wearing flags and screaming, “Four more years!”

        3. Utah Man with a History of Organizing Violent Antifa, BLM Protests, Was Inside the Capitol Building

John Sullivan is from Utah and the founder of “Insurgence USA,” which is a group dedicated to “racial justice and police reform.” According to numerous news reports, he has a history of organizing leftist protests and identifies with Black Lives Matter.

Over the summer, Sullivan was arrested after organizing a violent riot in Utah that ended with a shooting. One of the host groups was the Salt Lake Antifascist [Antifa] Coalition.

At the U.S. Capitol, Sullivan was standing next to Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt when she was shot and killed by a police officer. In fact, he filmed it.

        4. Yep you’ve nailed it. A bunch of hundreds of white supremacists and Trump supporters absolutely took their orders from a single skinny black man filming on his phone… It’s so obvious I don’t know how anyone could have missed it.

        5. LOL Antifa terrorists! 🙂

Ms. Babbitt’s politics were emphatically pro-Trump. On the door of the pool-supply company, a poster declares it to be a “mask free autonomous zone, better known as America,” where “we shake hands like men, fist bump like homies.”

I guess Ms. Babbitt was paid well by Soros to pay the LOOOOOONG game, huh? I wonder, when did he get to her? Probably when she was in the military no doubt!

Derrick Evans, a Republican member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, has been charged in a criminal complaint with entering a restricted area and entering the US Capitol.

Wow, Soros has enough money to even pay Republican members of the West Virginia House of Delegates?? Does his evil double agentry know no bounds?!

That Soros paid these two supposed “conservators” to lead 3 million actual Antifa terrorists to storm the Capitol is incredible!! Wait… wasn’t Donald Trump a Democrat for years before, suddenly, without warning, switching to be a Republican? HE’S BEEN A DOUBLE AGENT WORKING TO TAKE DOWN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY FROM THE INSIDE!! SOROS YOU CAD! YOU BOUNDER!!

        6. They don’t do irony here dontcha know.
But they excel at outrage, dissembling, denial, whataboutism, constitutional acrobatics…all good cultist stuff.

      1. I’ll bet the training course for the shill farm has an entire unit dedicated to Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s propaganda czar. Repeat a lie often enough and people will believe it, right? “Riot, riot, riot, riot, riot!!” Funny thing these days is that we have video, it was not a riot, just a mostly peaceful protest with some antifa psyops mixed in, friends of yours?

        1. I’m beginning to realize that it isn’t worth playing whack-a-mole with these people. They post something that is preposterously untrue. When you post the actual facts, they just move on to another preposterous lie. They have been playing that game since long before Nov. 3, and they aren’t going to stop now when it has actually killed people.

Hell, they are still denying that the country is losing 4000 people a day to a virus that could be contained if people took it seriously instead of believing lies. Interesting fact, besides the Capitol Police officer killed on the 6th, there have been 162 healthy active-duty peace officers who have died of the coronavirus so far. You can’t argue with cop-killers.

      2. “Perhaps if he had not used Twitter to spread falsehoods and incite a riot, they would not have banned him.”

Speaking of banning (temporarily at least…) the NYPost uploaded a news story on twitter and FB about Hunter Biden’s laptop and that got them banned for two weeks (I think on twitter). At about the same time, several MSM news outlets reported (i’m paraphrasing from memory) that dozens of former intelligence officials said there was nothing to the story and probably planted by the pesky Russians.

Now it turns out that we find out Hunter has been under an investigation for something like two years.

The problem here is, those snot-nosed zit-faced low-T snowflakes at twitter and FB that are fact checking news stories aren’t really interested in fact checking stories that are favorable to the left.

And speaking of inciting riots, are you sure there were no tweets over the last year that incited rioting in the cities? I bet there were lots of them.

    1. It’s always “stay tuned” with this Trump guy. Always just wait… any moment now… huge news coming soon… big announcement soon… blah blah blah blah blah. Trump is all talk.

  6. This is exactly how democracy falls. The socialists in this country are not even willing to listen to opposing voices. Socialists in America have declared themselves “correct” and decreed conservatives as “wrong”. Socialists own the universities, the media, and social media. They are brainwashing the public while they silence the opposition.
Tell me where I’m wrong. Because that’s exactly what’s happening.

    1. They are only successfully brainwashing a subset of the public. They fear us knowing how many people aren’t falling for their lies, thus they are ratcheting up the censorship. If the populace wakes up, their tyranny comes to a swift end.

    2. This is exactly how democracy falls. The conservatives in this country are not even willing to listen to opposing voices. Conservatives in America have declared themselves “correct” and decreed Liberals as “wrong”. Conservatives use right wing media to spread lies with impunity and get mad when called on the lies even when they know they are lies. They are brainwashing their public while they silence the opposition.

Fixed your post for you. You’re welcome.

        1. Look, here’s the thing. You’re very obviously on the far right where myself I’m more centre left, moderate really. And that is what we need or nothing will ever get done. I don’t identify with the radical left at all but what I find fascinating about the far right is they are oblivious to the lies they are being fed by their leaders. The fact that the United States is already practising a form of democratic socialism is lost on them and concepts like universal health care, even though it would benefit them, are immediately thrown away because that’s communism and socialism.

They vote in rich white men who will do anything they can to stay rich and then believe everything they say hook, line and sinker. The latest is believing the nonsense about the capital riot really being led by the left even though those identified and arrested so far are known white supremacists and worse.

Trump lies pretty much every time he opens his mouth yet his followers believe it, even though they know he’s not telling the truth, and then suggest his naysayers need to find the truth. They seem to think he’s the second coming yet fail to realize that Trump is only interested in them for their vote. He has absolutely no interest in them personally and would step on them as soon as he can, just like he did for all the working class contractors who he stiffed when building his various properties.

The good thing that has come out of the past few days is that the GOP seems finally to have had enough of the orange buffoon and now that they have lost the senate perhaps finally will come down and work with the democrats and together get things done.

Moderation, again, is what is needed here. Not extremism on either side.

        2. “I’m more centre left, moderate really.” Please don’t self identify ever again. It makes you look like a buffoon! Just leave the ‘which side of the political scale you’re on’ to the people who can garner where you stand from what you write in your posts, okay?

“oblivious to the lies they are being fed by their leaders.” (yeah, because Democrat leaders would never lie)

“concepts like universal health care, even though it would benefit them” (again, because Democrat leaders would never lie)

“believing the nonsense about the capital riot really being led by the left even though those identified and arrested so far are known white supremacists and worse.” (love how one group is peacefully demonstrating as looters silhouettes are seen in the background of buildings on fire, but have a broken glass window, RIOTS!!! Also, Democrat = Robert Byrd = KKK = White Supremacist = Confederacy = Democrat. Factual vicious cycle for someone to confront as they play the White Supremacist card)

“Trump lies pretty much every time he opens his mouth”. (So do you regarding your political rant so what is your point? You and Trump are the same when you open your mouth, is what I’m reading)

“had enough of the orange buffoon” (yep moderate, no radical Left bias there)

“…GOP… finally will come down and work with the democrats and together get things done.” (because it is only acceptable that Republicans need to work with Democrats and Democrats never have to work with Republicans in the Radical Left’s World Order)

“…where myself I’m more centre left, moderate really. And that is what we need or nothing will ever get done.”

Moderate my ass. Nothing to see here folks, just another radical Leftist thinking he’s superior by frothing out the usual platitudes that he thinks only applies to the Right/GOP/Republicans, but can aptly and just as easily apply to any Leftista Democrat out there.

Or in simpler terms, jason2025 thinks his shit don’t stink.

And when it comes to the Left’s ideas, let’s hope nothing gets done!

  7. Trump lost the election. Period. Get over it.
Trump incited the violence at the capital and should be held responsible. Period.
Private companies have the right to limit what you do, free speech only relates to the government, in the US anyway.

      1. No one is endorsing violence and it’s false equivalency to compare one to the other. What’s lost in all of this when the right tries to compare things to BLM, the right is rioting to promote hate while BLM and their allies are protesting against that. Big difference.

        1. It most certainly was BLM/Antifa.

I’ve seen comparative pictures of these people. Same BLM/Antifa scumbags rioting at the Capitol were rioting in various cities this summer. They are NOT Trump supporters by any stretch of the imagination.

        2. Please follow up on your research. Every one of those photos was proven to have been falsified in order to connect them to liberal groups. The people can be proven to be alt-right conservatives. I’m not buying that antifa junk and I’ve voted conservative for the last 25 years. Please follow up and don’t get pulled into the echo chamber of a single news source being repeated falsely

        3. Ok, I know that logically it pains you to do so, BUT try using conservative logic on them.

“BLM was a peaceful protest, there were alt-right psyops in the crowd doing all the destruction!”

See, if you disconnect your brain from logic (the way conservatives do), it’s easy to ignore any fact you don’t agree with! 🙂

  8. EPIC wants a free ride in the App Store. That case has nothing whatsoever to do with Apple is considering banning an app that allows people to speak freely without fear of being shadow banned or banned outright.

  9. Yeah, I sent a link regarding this story to MDN along with the following comment:

So, it appears Apple Inc. has gone Commie and will ban Parler from the app store unless Parler institutes a moderation policy, whatever the fuck that means. It appears Censorship has reigned supreme in America in 2021 and no free thinkers allowed. I guess Apple has become what they chided in their 1984 superbowl tv ad! A greyed out, faceless, emotionless, hapless Lemming following Leftist Social Justice BS threats of Censorship and Cancel Culture. So much for the Cupertino Cowards who touted at us for years to Think Different. I’m not so sure I want that 5G iPhone anymore. Actions have consequences you silicon valley nitwits! Shame on you Apple!! Shame on you Tim!!!

    1. I’m sure they’ve called an emergency meeting over this and how to win you back. Free speech is one thing but you don’t have the freedom to spread lies and incite violence. Learn the difference.

      1. Explain the difference. Use specific posts from Twitter or Parler. Show where Trump knowingly lies, resulting in positively-identified MAGA supporters attacking the Capitol building.

      2. Jason your not an honest man. You know there is also equal hate and calls to violence on Twitter and FB but the difference is its directed to a different audience. Honestly its not good to lie to yourself. Politically Im an independent liberal, I believe in the liberty of the individual, This is beyond blue team vs Red team. You need to stop defending the indefensible. Im not say you need to join the religious right but you need to realize this will not stop until all free people are dead or enslaved in cages. Do a little study on the Red Terror and the history of the Marxist party in the USSR are the CCP. The collusion between big tech and a political party will not end well for all of us. Every liberal needs to be pissed off. This is not what we signed up for.

        1. You got stuck in 1975?? Marxist party? USSR? Get a grip. The United States of America can only hope to be a centrist county. It is the center of capitalism. It will NEVER turn to the left in the way you fear. You need to take your tin foil hat off and read a bit more about how things truly work in the world. You know that in Communist China, you can have a privately own company? You also know that there is a wold of deference between pure socialism and democratic socialism? This has to do with the growing wealth gap in America. 1% of the population have control of 50% of all the wealth. You really think that is sustainable? Guess what party perpetuated this. Have you ever heard of “Trickle down economics”? Guess what, they don’t tickle down!!!

    2. You know what’ll show Tim FOR REAL! Take ALL your Apple products, get on social media and take videos smashing them so that Tim knows he’s REALLY done it now. Then, don’t buy any of those socialist, communist, liberal products anymore, that’ll show Tim what’s what!

Then, boycott all sites that deal in Apple and Mac related news. That’ll truly pwn ol’ Tim!

      1. You know, this is the typical snarky, small-alek, small-minded reply of so many liberal leftists. However, I for one am a middle-aged tech-savvy consumer who affects the buying habits of the adult members of my extended family, business people, and many church people. I am a quiet influencer for a score or more of consumers who can afford Apple products — just the people Apple seeks. I always suggested Apple because of its commitment to privacy and the elegance of its products. As of now, this quickly, everyone in my family has canceled or suspended all Apple purchases. No M1s, AirPods, Watches, HomePods (of course), new iPhones, or any other Apple devices. We are actively researching ways to disconnect from Apple services. I am actively researching moving to Linux, both for myself and the people I know. So, while Tim may not see a video of me smashing Apple products, it is already affecting their business. What we do depends on whether or not Apple remains faithful to the Homebrew, and Steve’s, computing vision of an open web and free speech. Will the traditional American or CCP vision of the future win? That’s the issue.

        1. “As of now, this quickly, everyone in my family has canceled or suspended all Apple purchases. No M1s, AirPods, Watches, HomePods (of course), new iPhones, or any other Apple devices. We are actively researching ways to disconnect from Apple services.”

It is NO DOUBT affecting their business. You can bet they’ve already done the math and taken that into account, this is no “off the cuff” stance. Unfortunately, a LOT of folks’ ideology end with the words they speak and not the actions they take. Many of the folks here, that have KNOWN about the liberal bent of Apple for a LONG time continue to purchase and support MACdailynews. (The post I replied to? “ I’m not so sure I want that 5G iPhone anymore.” not I DON’T WANT, it’s i’m not so sure I want) And, a large number of that 75 million will continue to do so.

  10. My home is FILLED with Apple products. I have a fully loaded M1 on order. If Apple bans Parler, I am completely done with them. They will have betrayed the individual freedom Steve and computing once stood for.

    1. me too ! I just checked my receipts for holiday purchase .. .will return for refund. Open source phones are a thing now… really dont need iOS that much

Steve was a classic liberal (liberty for the individual) He knew how to keep apple out of politics. Tim has no creative ideas of his own, (he stole both is dress style, mannerisms and language from Steve) so now he is left to manufactures his self importance with the pretense of social justice but that social justice stops at the water’s edge; once his policies meet the CCP human rights crimes he turns a blind eye in fear of hurting that bottom line.

There is so much blood on your iPhone maybe he is doing us all a favor by running us off.

Bottom line big tech and the CCP are scared of free speech

      1. Steve was a hard leftie but in business his was the “Republicans buy sneakers too” approach, like Michael Jordan is to have said. Tim Cook on the other hand would gladly design the reeducation camps for crimethinkers “who don’t share our values”. Apple Park is like an open-air prison already, their militarized security with dogs during shareholder meetings is the beta test, the guard towers will look like giant Homepods.

        1. Free speech is not so simple. We have always had the question does one have the right to yell fire in a crowed theatre? Does one have right to hate speech? Can one call for violence breaking the law. It’s not so simple as one would like.

        2. Who gets to determine what speech is hate. Because liberals hate tump any thing he says is always taken as hate. Because conservatives hate Biden anything he says is taken as hate. Your right it is complicated but we should air on the side of freedom. Their are over 300 million people in the USA so chances are you will encounter millions of stupid ideas. What is dangerous is now big tech that control modern communications has aggressively taken sides ahead of the law and common sense. Even most Democrats don’t support the extreme measure big tech is taken. And there is no law against stupidity. What trump said at the rally was far less then what sone leaders on the left has said. Heck they censored him when he said go home.tell the truth the far left only cares about power and control at all cost. The hell with individual freedom. Many liberals are gonna realize that the Marxist plan dose not stop with conservative and trump supporters. Try buying weed or exercising alternative lifestyles in CCP China. Wake up it’s not liberals vs conservatives the battle is liberal capitalist vs Marxist. Liberals and capitalist balance each other out really well … but Marxist realize to defeat freedom they need to divide us… our government will fail as a one party system. Look at California, cheating in the election, dividing the country will hurt both sides and every American

        3. Well, I a phrase like “Jews must die” is pretty clearly hate speech, right? Even if liberals say it, it’s still hate speech. One would HOPE that few people would be upset with any platform flagging that as “offensive” right? Even Parler. However, if you poll 100 random democrats and 100 random republicans, though, you would find a significant number of those republicans support the idea behind the phrase.

Republicans want to say that phrases like the above are “OK” not because “it’s not hate speech”, but just because it’s THEIR party members saying it. Are there republicans that think that phrase above is reprehensible? YES! However, they sit by the sidelines and stay quiet when folks say it because they REALLLY want that person’s vote.

  11. It’s one thing for Apple to delist the app from their store. It is a WHOLE DIFFERENT thing to bar it from someone’s phone… Next Apple will choose to control not only what you run on your computer and phone but what you consume and/or produce?

There is a famous poem (in various forms). One version goes like this:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Watch out what you praise or even choose to ignore.

    1. Then they came for me because I broke into the Capitol, interrupted a session of Congress, tried to coerce the members, trashed the building, and caused five deaths. Then I justified it by calling my coconspirators patriots and telling them, “We love you. You’re very special.”

Yes, watch out what you praise.

  12. Constitutional protections for freedom of speech do not extend to yelling ‘Fire!’ In a crowded theater, nor do they protect slander, nor inciting or conspiring in criminal activity. Some might also reasonably argue that knowingly disseminating misinformation should not be protected either.

Regardless, the First Amendment only prohibits the government from limiting free speech. The Constitution says nothing about how private groups may limit speech within themselves.

    Learn some civics MAGA dipshits!

    1. wow, look at the precious lefty attempting to explain constitutional theory to conservatives. how quaint. begone with this silly pretense; the left would shred the constitution in a heartbeat.

  13. Parler is probably parlaying properly by putting protected parlance in proper perspective.
On another issue, Donald should concurrently be removed in accordance with Article 25, Sec. 3; as well as impeached according to Article 25, Sec. 4.

    1. Sounds like the things you read on Parler 🙂 Everything is … very soon, it never happens, but no one cares because they’re looking for the next thing that’s … very soon 🙂

  14. Hey Apple World…..Hey Tim Cook…..here is a fun little scenario to ponder…..

If as alleged by Tim Cook; that Parler is being used to enable-_____________ (conduct we hate); then let’s carry this “enablement” mantra further shall we:

How many terrorist/criminal/harassment events have been carried out using an iPhone/Android phones and the encrypted WhatsApp from the bowels of FaceBook to evade detection/arrest/incarceration??

If the current outrage-banning-censoring mantra is to be followed then Apple, Facebook, Google, Samsung, and WhatsApp should alllllll be shut down for enabling criminal activity…………Right!? ….anybody…??…..is this thing on??!!

How far do you free speech haters and muzzlers of the opposition want to take this….??

I call BS on alllllllll the double standards and hypocrisy……I support NONE of the violence.

Go to the Capitol and make your voices heard does not mean storm the Capitol with your MAGA and Antifa and BLM embedded thugs to murder and destroy things.

Where was the OUTRAGE when Antifa and BLM were burning Democrat cities to the ground this past summer??? Go look at the videos before they are taken down by the Speech Police.

Burning Looting and Murder obviously are tolerated in certain areas of the internet…….the proverbial “nothing to see…move along” mantra rules the day….

Where was the OUTRAGE when politicos and left-leaning Hollywoodites were calling for bombing the White House and decapitation of the POTUS……..

    NOT.ONE.PEEP.FROM.THE.DEMOCRATS

Let me know when the hypocrisy and doube-standards are REMOVED..!!

  15. Let me be clear, that I 100% condemn what happened last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Now with that said, this is only the beginning folks, when big tech starts to be the gatekeeper of all things negative about a political party (namely the Democrats).

We’re already seeing it with Twitter banning OUR President from its platform, and now Parler’s network partners treating to throw them off their networks for not “bowing down” to a Democrat narrative, which is, “sit down, shut up, and you cannot have a negative opinion about your Government.” Don’t believe me? WAIT. MDN may get kicked off of Google in a few hours (or days) for even carrying the above article, which will force them to delete it and then try to get back onto Google without even a mention about Trump, the 1st amendment, or the above article.

Don’t believe me? Okay, say that at the end of Biden’s 4 year term (god help us all).

  16. It’s their platform, they can do whatever or set whatever standard they like.

As for Mac daily news calling this Orwellian…read the book first then talk. I think I’m going to start going to a different Apple site.
