Dow Jones futures rise as President Trump signs stimulus deal

Dow Jones futures rose Monday morning, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures, as President Donald Trump signed the COVID-19 stimulus deal Sunday night.

stocksEd Carson for Investor’s Business Daily:

Shortly after Dow futures started trading, President Trump tweeted, “Good news on Covid Relief Bill. Information to follow!”

Trump signed the combined $900 billion stimulus deal and $1.4 trillion omnibus spending legislation Sunday night, after threatening for several days to block it…

Trump, in a statement, said that the GOP-held Senate will hold a vote on raising the direct checks to $2,000, after the Democrat-led House presumably approves such a measure on Monday. Trump had called for $2,000 checks as he balked at signing the stimulus deal last week. He also said that Congress will review repealing Section 230 that provides liability protection to internet companies as well as investigate his claims of voter fraud.

Among the megacap stocks, Apple (AAPL) is performing the best, with big recent gains; it’s running through several early buy points and toward record highs… Apple stock rose 4.15% last week to 131.91, after a 3.5% gain in the prior week. It’s up 10.8% so far in December… Apple stock has a world-beating $2.24 trillion market valuation.

MacDailyNews Take: So far, Apple looks to be closing out 2020 in strong fashion!

    1. Agreed the bill has much wasteful government spending and a pittance in relief for citizens.

“Trump signed the combined $900 billion stimulus deal and $1.4 trillion omnibus spending legislation Sunday night”

Proof is in the bill, $1.4 trillion omnibus, translation taxpayer funded government and business pork.

The smaller $900 billion stimulus deal should be all we need without the wasteful spending pork. Let’s calculate $600 per 300 million citizens comes to a total of 180 billion. Less than 20% of the Covid relief money is a DISGRACE! And less than 10% of the total is even worse.

President Trump continues to fight for $2,000 per person. Personally speaking, why not increase it to $4,000 directly to citizens eliminating government pork?

President Trump also continues to fight for the people against all odds in the face of massive voter fraud, 230 law protecting conservative CENSORSHIP, liberal media and Democrats daily pummeling of the president and worst of all — tepid support from swamp Republicans. Truly remarkable president to behold! …

Fair and balanced details you won’t find in the DEMOCRAT BIASED media:

        1. We could provide dozens, if not hundreds, of references showing that the “pork” people are complaining about wasn’t in the COVID relief package per se, but in the bill to continue government operations that was combined with it. That bill contained items which have been funded for years and that the Administration had recommended for continued funding.

The combined bill was approved by Mr. Trump’s own negotiators and by supermajorities of both Democrats and Republicans in both the House and the Senate. All that is a matter of public record.

I won’t bother giving the references because you won’t believe them, even if you look them up yourself.

        2. Was I talking to you Mr. Know it All telling people what they know or don’t know. Your arrogance is only trumped by your stupidity.

There are complaints regarding pork in both bills, but not from Democrats the likes of you.

          Nuff said…

      1. Clarification for idiots reading something into the following that was not there or intended:

“The smaller $900 billion stimulus deal should be all we need without the wasteful spending pork.”

I was referring to the Covid relief or stimulus package ONLY, not to the exclusion or elimination of the Omnibus spending that runs government. Both could use trimming fat from the meat, and went on to say regarding stimulus:

“Let’s calculate $600 per 300 million citizens comes to a total of 180 billion. Less than 20% of the Covid relief money is a DISGRACE!”

House passed the $2,000 per person relief President Trump requested Monday. It should have been in the original bill the president signed Sunday, but since when is the Washington swamp efficient and smart prudent spenders of taxpayer money…

        1. It’s refreshing to see IPOTUS and his followers embracing socialism so bigly! Running up the deficit to give money directly to people sounds like something only 4 years ago Republicans would’ve been dead set against (hint, they still are). And then there’s the biggest socialist expenditure of them all: the military. Way past time to get the socialist Trump out of the White House.

  1. Thankfully MDN/SJ appears to have gotten out of the habit of reporting selective economic news and attributing all positive trends to their team.

Now watch as the steady hand on the tiller guides the US economy back from the brink. It won’t be easy or instantaneous, but it’s much more reassuring knowing that the federal government is being operated by people with experience doing what they are supposed to do.
