Amazon removed Apple Card as a payment option for some users on Friday. “We are aware of this technical issue and are actively working to resolve it as soon as possible,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement to CNBC.

Some Amazon users discovered on Friday that saved Apple Card numbers had been removed from their Amazon accounts. CNBC confirmed with two separate Amazon accounts that an Apple Card used to make a purchase on Thursday had been removed as a payment option on Friday.
Amazon said it has not intentionally removed Apple Card as a payment option, and blamed the problem on a bug.
While Apple Card is designed to be used for contactless payments with an iPhone or online purchases though the Apple Pay system, it is a Mastercard with a credit card number which can be used like any other credit card.
That’s how Apple Card holders can pay for purchases on Amazon with their Apple Card. Amazon does not accept Apple Pay, Apple’s payment service.
MacDailyNews Take: Hopefully, Amazon will clear up this bug ASAP as many would prefer to use their Apple Cards on the site.
In reality, I prefer to make my Amazon purchases with my Amazon Prime Visa Card by Chase. The Chase card gives 5% cash back and adds an additional 1 year warranty on to everything that I buy from Amazon. It also offers up to $500 per claim to protect against theft, damage or involuntary and accidental parting with property during the first 120 days after purchase. AppleCard doesn’t offer as much cash back, and offers no Purchase Protection benefits at all.
Same here.. Even the Discover card offers better deals on Amazon with their own section.
Amazon’s not accepting Apple Pay might be evidence that Amazon is either abusing its monopoly or is at least behaving unethically. Regulators: Another instance of a reason to examine slaver Amazon.
amazon is convenient but, personally, if, at all, possible, i try to find alternatives to amazon/the washington post. facebook, twitter, google, as well. i find they all engage in an unethical, nasty willingness to interrupt the free flow of information with omission or spin, misappropriation of personal data, shadow banning, blatant censorship, who knows what else. it didn’t even start with eric schmidt and apple’s brand new phone, even to microsoft’s stealing quicktime code and beyond that. i detest dishonesty and it’s absolutely rampant. i will not support liars and thieves. also, sad as it is, i don’t even know the half of it.
According to an Amazonian Uber rep, the reason the Apple Card payment option was missing is due to a technical issue – “…Technically, we got caught.”
