Here in Calgary, Alberta, iOS 14 seemed to be available just after 1900 hours on Sept 15. It was hard to connect to the App Store by 2100.

Have seen various reports about developers mad about the surprise announcement. However, I find that perplexing. I had written in my calendar “Approx. iOS 14 release date” for yesterday (the 15th), a month or more ago. It was based on guesswork, of course. But if you merely googled “iOS 14 release date”, that was the date lots of people were speculating. Hard to imagine it as a big surprise, when it happens about the same time year after year.

There was a time, not too long ago, when Apple releases some software or the other at the same time in each time zone. This resulted in 24 server crashes, one per hour. I got the Apple TV update early this morning (ET), but the iPhone software is not yet available to me. They know they have Apple fans who will try to download everything at the same time, as evidenced by these comments. They are probably releasing it gradually by data center and by OS in order to avoid overloading their servers.
They said it would come today. They did now promise a clock time. Be patient. Your life does not depend on whether you get the upgrade at 1:29 or 1:32.
