Apple plans to bundle access to CBS All Access and Showtime content at a discounted price for Apple TV+ subscribers, Bloomberg News reports, citing “people familiar with the plans.”
Mark Gurman for Bloomberg News:
Starting as early as Monday, Apple TV+ subscribers will be able to access both the CBS and Showtime channels in Apple’s TV app for $9.99 per month combined. CBS All Access and Showtime normally cost $9.99 and $10.99 per month respectively, so the deal would be a significant savings.
Later this year, the company plans to launch a push into services bundles for all of its major offerings with an offering dubbed “Apple One,” Bloomberg reported on Thursday.
MacDailyNews Take: This will certainly spur subscriptions for the Apple TV+, CBS All Access, and Showtime streaming services!
Awesome! but
AppleTV+ is meh…
CBSaa is meh…
Showtime is meh…
So, $9.99 you say? Yeah Okay I’ll pass.
Tough audience
Wonder if the price will be less if we’re in the free year of AppleTV+
short answer: no.
Longer answer: no, I don’t believe so.
No, since the $9.99 price is only for CBS All Access and Showtime with the pre-requisite of subscribing to AppleTV+.
I am already a CBSaa customer so I’m canceling now so I can get more for the same price.
I subscribe to CBS in the spring, cancel in the summer. I subscribe to Showtime in the fall and cancel in the winter. I’m currently trialing tv+. A bundle might actually get me subscribe to all 3 year round.
Bundle me iCloud Storage + Apple Music (Family) + anything else non-tv and I’m in.
Exactly in typical Apple fashion they bundle garbage with something somewhat ok (Showtime). Show me a bundle worthwhile like Apple TV iCloud and Apple Music for an annual price not this garbage ass monthly BS.
In other words, the separate subscriptions aren’t selling well enough on their own.
The MDN title is misleading since the $9.99 price is for Showtime and CBS All Access which is in addition to $4.99 for AppleTV+. The latter is of course free for one year for those purchasing Apple hardware.
