Apple has denied interest in acquiring TikTok after an Axios story from earlier Tuesday reported that Apple was looking into a potential deal. The Trump administration has threatened to ban TikTok from the U.S. due to national security concerns about Chinese parent company ByteDance.
President Trump has given Microsoft 45 days to buy TikTok’s U.S. business before banning the app.
Microsoft on Sunday confirmed that U.S. President Trump and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella have discussed Microsoft exploring a purchase of TikTok in the United States from China-owned parent company ByteDance.
The TikTok app allows users to create 15 second videos, soundtracked by music clips. TikTok says the app has 100 million users in the United States.
An Apple spokesperson told Axios following that report that the company hasn’t held discussions about buying TikTok and isn’t interested in a deal.
Microsoft Corp. is considered to be the most logical bidder for TikTok and the company confirmed over the weekend that it would continue discussions about a possible deal.
MacDailyNews Take: Apple has enough problems in and with China (with the ever-present potential for more issues looming). Apple might be the last company on earth who’d want to buy TikTok.
Why would anyone want to buy that cesspool?
It is a good program for what it does, young people like and use it, but many people are upset that they didn’t think of it first, and that it’s of Chinese origin.
No one hates China! Historically China’s heritage is from the Ming Dynasty not the Soviet Union. The CCP is a marxist government that came from Soviet Russia. CCP hijacked the Chinese government and culture. I 100 percent bet the USA would embrace Mainland China in a heart beat if they dropped the quest for world domination. Look at tibet, the CCP destroyed China’s religion and ethic heritage. Just check out South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines…. Americans love quality products from Asia. Modern United States has mostly moved passed it racist past. Asians excel under our shared western government and culture freedom, our socity is by far the most diverse nation on this planet. So it’s not the “Chinese origin” of TikTok that is the problem its the CCP control that is the problem. Thats a very important distinction.
Look at the CCP government flag and artwork. Thats Soviet Russia design not Ming Dynasty heritage.
