How Apple TV+ will retain subscribers as year-long free trials expire

Apple’s streaming service started with a dearth of content and programming, even though the Apple TV+ library has more than doubled since the service’s launch last fall. When trial subscribers’ free year ends, how will Apple retain them, i.e., get them to sign up as paying subscribers?

Bundling.

The Entertainment Oracle for Seeking Alpha:

The problem is that Apple needs something to make up for those “samplers” shuffling off, and it needs something that will be a long-term fix versus a one-year patch. We started seeing that in recent weeks, as Apple has reportedly entered into talks to buy catalog content from other networks/studios, while also teaming with studios on producing new films and acquiring others – including the newly dated Greyhound, which was originally set up at Sony (SNE) (pre-COVID-19) and now will stream on the platform exclusively starting July 10th.

In general, it’s a smart strategy because it firmly shifts the focus of a larger overall part of the company versus just one element of it. On top of that, it shows Apple finally putting its weight into what was likely a pricey venture for investors overall.

It also stood to reason it was only half the story and more would be coming.

As it turns out, more is coming…

Apple has four key subscription services” Music, TV+, News and Arcade. Music and News cost $9.99 a month, while TV+ and Arcade are $4.99 a month, so basically, all four will run you $30 a month… Now though, say you bundle it and let’s pick $20 as an potential price point, so each service essentially costs $5, and for someone who (also like me) has two of the four already, there’s now an incentive to add to my bundle because I’m receiving more bang for my buck.

And for the record, if Apple offered a $20 bundle with the four services, it’s something I’d likely do – and I don’t think I’m alone.

MacDailyNews Take: Don’t forget about iCloud storage which we believe Apple will use to sweeten their “Apple Prime” deal to the point where it becomes a no-brainer for millions of Apple device users to happily sign up!

  1. In Canada it’s a little more expensive (exchange woes). I subscribe to iTunes Match, Apple Music and AppleTV (still free until November 1) and Apple News. That would cost me $343/year or ~$28/month. I couldn’t care less about Games.
It would be really great if they included iTunes Match in the bundle, though, because that would save me $8/month or $96/year.

  2. It would be nice to see a few different bundle options or various tiers. This would allow users to choose the best option for their needs. This seems pretty tough to do, thou. I imagine everyone has their own “perfect bundle.” Maybe Apple could offer a small choice of mixed bundles and add the option of “customized add ons” to suit one’s needs.

Unfortunately for Apple, their streaming service is, in part, dependent upon some of the most nauseating, loathing, sanctimonious, self serving, overtly rich, arrogant, white liberals who constantly pull this shit – #Itakeresponsibilty. Thus making it harder for some to want to fork over their hard earned money to perpetuate the sewage industry that is Hollywood, that is the music industry, that is sports and that is the propaganda news services of America in 2020.

I wonder if these idiots that are claiming to take responsibility for racism, will also take responsibility for their bullying, spreading the hate and making fun of Christians, flyover country inhabitants, and Conservatives?

I wonder if these idiots that are claiming to take responsibility for racism, will also give up their next leading role to a person of color to correct Hollywood’s casting couch racism?

I wonder if these idiots will relinquish their white privilege gated mansions built by black and brown hands and the millions of dollars they received for their part in America’s racism on the Silver Screen.

I wonder if these idiots will request a ban on their movies, like was done with Gone with the Wind and return the income received?

I wonder when Tim Cook will stop with his selective social causes outrage and cease the use of customer’s and the stock owner’s equity as his personal Correct the Injustices of My Choosing ATM?

    I wonder… I wonder…

I wonder when all this garbage will stop!

After all, if they weren’t bothered by it 6 months ago or a year ago to open their holes in their faces to take responsibility then. They might as well shut their holes in their faces now. Because what is more despicable, this, the act of pretending to care about racism, or the act of racism itself?!

    1. Let me guess… MAGA?

I read this a few times before deciding to respond, but this is where I speak only for myself, not all liberals.

“ making fun of Christians, flyover country inhabitants, and Conservatives?”

Because they try to impose their worldview on others! They don’t restrict their control to their own homes.
No liberal imposed how, when, or whether to use birth control.
No liberal tried to impose praying in school.
No liberal attempted to make a law about how to criticize ones own country.
No liberal endorses prejudicial government behavior of any kind.

Too many of the so called Christians, flyovers, and Conservatives do.
