Apple today released macOS Catalina 10.15.1 which includes updated and additional emoji, support for AirPods Pro, HomeKit Secure Video, HomeKit enabled routers, and new Siri privacy settings, as well as bug fixes and improvements.
Emoji
• Over 70 new or updated emoji, including animals, food, activities, new accessibility emoji, gender neutral emoji, and skin tones selection for couple emoji
AirPods
• Introduces support for AirPods Pro
Home app
• HomeKit Secure Video enables you to privately capture, store, and view encrypted video from your security cameras and features people, animal, and vehicle detection
• HomeKit enabled routers let you control how your HomeKit accessories communicate over the internet or in your home
• Adds support for AirPlay 2-enabled speakers in scenes and automations
Siri
• Privacy settings to control whether or not to help improve Siri and Dictation by allowing Apple to store audio of your Siri and Dictation interactions
• Option to delete your Siri and Dictation history from Siri Settings
This update also includes the following bug fixes and improvements:
• Restores the ability to view file names in the All Photos view in Photos
• Restores the ability to filter by favorites, photos, videos, edited, and keywords in Days view in Photos
• Fixes an issue where Messages would only send a single notification when the option to repeat alerts was enabled
• Resolves an issue that caused Contacts to launch to the previously opened contact instead of the contact list
• Adds a two-finger swipe gesture for back navigation in Apple News
• Resolves issues that may occur in the Music app when displaying playlists inside folders and newly added songs in the Songs list
• Improves reliability of migrating iTunes library databases into the Music, Podcasts, and TV apps
• Fixes an issue where downloaded titles were not visible in the Downloads folder in the TV app

I still can’t update my 2015 MacBook to Catalina. And, apparently, I’m far from the only one with this issue. Apple has offered no help or explanation. Does anyone have any idea what’s going on? And now Home Pods are getting bricked. When is Apple going to hire an effective leader for that company?
It’s all academic until they fix mail — at least to a functional level!! Catalina is without doubt the buggiest macOS (OSX) release ever! Apple should be ashamed at themselves!!
I wish they would have prioritized fixing errors like kernel panics over adding new features…
In the release notes it has not been mentioned whether upgrading to Catalina 10.15.1 leaves all emails intact now. (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/psa-apple-mail-bugs-can-lead-to-data-loss-in-macos-catalina.2205346/) So has Catalina 10.15.1 resolved this?
In 10.15 Mail was not displaying my Gmail Sent, with 10.15.1 it appears to be working now; shows my 22,700 sent mails.
How could one check 22,700 mails if they all still have their contents?
Makes me wish Apple would wait every 2 or 3 years before releasing a new macOS and then add enhancements and features. At least that way they might get over 90% of the bugs worked out before putting it out on the market. I don’t care for a new macOS out every year. I tend to wait every other year or the next year for the next version, say like macOS 10.16.x or macOS 10.17.x and etc. Just in my opinion.
To Apple Support: With Both with Supplemental Update & 10.15.1 Update, my Macbook Pro Completely Shuts Down during the update process. I have to Hit the Power Button to bring it back up then Startup gets Stuck at 75% for 15 minutes and Finally Springs into the Desktop. What Kind of Update Process is This?
I thought for sure my MacBook Pro was a Goner after the first Suppl. Update. But it did the same thing after 10.15.1 update, so I thought I might be okay. This sure is a hell of a Scary way even for experienced Mac Users to deal with.
I’m up and running just fine now excluding the panic attack that was included free of charge.
