In order to clear up what’s is a common misconception, Apple’s forthcoming original streaming content service, Apple TV+, is not limited to Apple devices.

Upon the service’s November 1, 2019 launch, Apple TV+ will be available on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, and select Samsung smart TVs, and will come to Amazon Fire TV, LG, Roku, Sony and VIZIO platforms in the future. At launch, Apple TV+ will also be available online at tv.apple.com using the Safari, Chrome, or Firefox web browsers.

Apple TV+ is not limited to Apple devices.

Apple TV+ costs $4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial. From September 10 onward, customers who purchase any iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, or Mac can enjoy one year of Apple TV+ for free. Through Family Sharing, up to six family members can share one Apple TV+ subscription.

  1. All these streaming services will surely dilute Netflix’s subscriber growth to some degree. I doubt it will be easy for Netflix to make enough money to keep producing its own content in quantity. I wish Netflix the best of luck. It’s good for consumers to have plenty of streaming platforms to choose from.

    1. I don’t think so. Even though the price for Apple TV+ is attractive, people also look at what kind of content that the service offers. They look for past and current shows that they are familiar or grew up with (such as Friends). Yes, it does help when they also have exclusives. But to build a streaming service with ALL new exclusives and no familiar content has taken the bang out of Apple TV+ for me.

I believe that Apple TV+ will be a wimpier instead of a bang in the streaming wars. They seem to be using their name to sell something that may not be all that for some (most?) users. Only time will tell.
