It represents all the things Apple stands for. Like simplicity, transparency, security, and privacy. You can buy things effortlessly, with just your iPhone. Or, if Apple Pay is not yet supported by the merchant, use the Apple‑designed titanium card anywhere in the world.

In a newly-published support note, Apple has detailed a number of things from which the company’s newly-launched titanium Appel Card credit card should be kept separate.

Chris Duckett for ZDNet:

[Apple says] the card should be kept away from leather and denim to avoid discolouration, and also away from hard surfaces, to avoid scratching its white finish.

Users are warned not to use household cleaners on the card, nor compressed air and aersols, nor any solvents, or ammonia, or anything abrasive to clean it… Apple further warns that the credit card… should be kept away from loose change, keys, and other credit cards.

“Place your card in a slot in your wallet or billfold without touching another credit card. If two credit cards are placed in the same slot your card could become scratched,” Apple adds. “Store your titanium Apple Card in a wallet, pocket, or bag made of soft materials.”

MacDailyNews Take: Further proof that Apple Card is not really meant to be used. To use your Apple Card most efficiently and effectively, deploy it via your Apple Watch or, slightly less efficiently, your iPhone.

  1. Never seen a card with this many DON’TS.. “Don’t Touch,” Don’t Clean,” “Don’t Put Near..” Don’t get Semen on it. Jeez.. but it’s so beautiful I wanted to Masterbate on it! But now I’m told not to!

    1. It was a Sarcastic Reply.. I have no desire for ridiculous Apple Card.. esp. if I can’t attach to wall next to Farrah Fawcett Poster and “admire” it while naked.

  2. My wallet is limited edition Ultraviolet Horween Shell Cordovan lined with Tan Chromexcel.

How am I supposed to store a credit card in it without having it touch any leather?

Do I need to slip it in an RFID sleeve first?

Or does it come with a fancy Jony Ive-designed sleeve when you get it?

I don’t have one but might get around to it someday.

  3. This is just garbage form over function design. Just really lame design. And painted titanium, didnt they learn a lesson from the horrendous flaking paint of the TiPowerBook? Just stupid on many levels. Not only bad design, ignoring past failures in design.

    1. I completely agree. Apple lists four things to be careful about. The first two precautions are to help you avoid scratching the card. All my plastic cards will scratch if I don’t take these first two precautions. As far as placing my Apple Card next to a magnetic latch, the exact same precaution applies to all of my plastic cards. If I carry my plastic cards in a pocket or bag that contains loose change, keys, or other potentially abrasive objects, they will suffer the same damage. It’s just that most people don’t care what their plastic cards look like after they get scratched. They are not as unique as the Apple Card.

Oh, and one more thing. Plastic cards may crack or break during the lifespan of their valid dates. That’s not going to happen with the Apple Card.

Basically, if you want your Apple Card to look like new, take care of it. This is a non-story.

  4. I don’t actually know anyone who just puts their credit cards straight in their pocket or purse?
Most use a wallet or something and surely most are going to use their phone or watch than swipe a card.

Seems a lot of fuss about nothing. I would have more of a go at Apple for making it so thick and adding bulk to our wallets.

  5. the physical card is sitting in a drawer, i’m more inclined to use Apple Pay for the convenience and bonus 2% (or 3% apple product). i have better rewards cards for physical use.
