Apple CEO Tim Cook has met with U.S. President Donald Trump at least five times over the past year.
Jake Kanter, Business Insider:
Cook has been on a charm offensive with the Trump, the latest installment of which took place on Friday, when the two sat down to dinner while the president is on a working vacation at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
Having dinner tonight with Tim Cook of Apple. They will be spending vast sums of money in the U.S. Great!

It is the fifth time that we know of that the pair have sat down together since August last year… Between these five meetings, Cook has also involved himself in other White House initiatives. In February this year, he joined Trump’s American Workforce Policy Advisory Board, while in November 2018, the Apple CEO promoted science, technology, engineering and math education by visiting an Idaho school with Ivanka Trump.
MacDailyNews Take: Cook is smart to be very engaged.
I’m cognizant that in both the U.S. and China, there have been cases where everyone hasn’t benefited, where the benefit hasn’t been balanced. My belief is that one plus one equals three. The pie gets larger, working together. — Apple CEO Tim Cook, March 24, 2018
The United States is insisting that all countries that have placed artificial Trade Barriers and Tariffs on goods going into their country, remove those Barriers & Tariffs or be met with more than Reciprocity by the U.S.A. Trade must be fair and no longer a one way street!

At least half of the popular fallacies about economics come from assuming that economic activity is a zero-sum game, in which what is gained by someone is lost by someone else. But transactions would not continue unless both sides gained, whether in international trade, employment, or renting an apartment. — Thomas Sowell, June 14, 2006

There is nothing more American than speaking one’s vision of truth to power. It is a shame that it takes control of a trillion-dollar corporation to get access.
Sometimes a lot less than that.

Trump just needed help with his old Samsung S3. He refuses to get help from any of his IT staff because some of them may have been hired by a previous administration. Still waiting for a single announcement indicating Apple is doing anything whatsoever to modernize government IT systems. All Apple’s competition is snapping up expensive military contracts but nobody wants to do the hard work of streamlining. Maybe the regular Trumpists here can provide evidence otherwise. Evidence more compelling than a tweet or rally cry, that is.
Secret lovers? Other than that, it hasn’t done Apple’s share price much good.
Tim Cook deserves a lot of credit for engaging in diplomacy with President Trump. He’d be a far greater Democratic candidate than all twenty red dwarves combined, at least he’s proud of being a capitalist.
Imagine that. A gay SJW warrior liberal CEO dining and communicating with a Republican president. There is HOPE for CHANGE…
By communicating, you mean begging for special tariff treatment for his Made in PRC wares, with profits laundered through Ireland and the Caymans? Something no small US companies can do. There is a reason large US corporations like Apple are hoarding cash while Main Street is holding its breath looking forward to an economic hell brought on by isolationism.
Imagine that. A post by GoeB containing the words “gay SJW warrior liberal” that does not insult Tim Cook, call for him to be sacked…or contain a MAGA?
Maybe there is hope after all.
MDN… why does WordPress suck so badly on this site. Posting and editing is virtual torture.
Appreciate that, Gotcha. Good to see opposite sides of the political spectrum working together something both houses of Congress need to do…
