Three years of misery inside Google

Uh, holy crap! If you’ve got some time, this is quite the read:

Three Years of Misery Inside Google, The Happiest Company in Tech by Nitasha Tiku for Wired.

MacDailyNews Take: Inside Alphabet Inc., it’s an even bigger mess than even we thought.

No company should have control of 92.19% of web searches.

StatCounter’s Search Engine Market Share Worldwide, July 2019:

  1. Google – 92.19%
  2. Bing – 2.61%
  3. Yahoo – 1.85%
  4. Baidu – 1.21%
  5. YANDEX RU – 0.55%
  6. DuckDuckGo – 0.54%

This is exactly the type of situation for which antitrust laws were designed. The U.S. and other governments should apply their antitrust laws and allow competition to drive the Web once again.

  1. The gloriously hilarious insanity of liberals on parade. These are the “adults” created after years and years of public and university indoctrination. Hillary Clinton lost and they didn’t even get a participation trophy.60,000 whining and crying political identity kooks with names like Jewglers and HOLA.

    1. Aaaahhhhhhhh! As usual, I love me some Thelonious in the afternoon. A clear thinker who expresses himself with verbal horsepower.

And as for Zag: Are you merely delusional, or just brainwashed?? Take a walk; better yet, take a nap.

    1. Your half-senile man baby is the biggest snowflake of them all. Constant whining, pouting and name-calling… almost incapable of saying a single sentence of any substance.

“I support the Great Lakes. Always have. They are beautiful. They are big. Very deep. Record deepness, right?”
What is even worse is his stupid body language and intonation as he spouts this drivel. And no, they don’t have “record deepness”… not in the world and not even in North America.

Trump just said “my father is German, was German. Born in a very wonderful place in Germany, and so I have a great feeling for Germany.”
Fred Trump was born in New York.

“Windmills. Weeeee. And if it doesn’t blow, you can forget about television for that night. ‘Darling, I want to watch television.’ ‘I’m sorry! The wind isn’t blowing.’ I know a lot about wind.” (Idiot.)

“Take a look at the oranges, the orages of the investigation … the orage … … … the beginning of the investigation”
This is an old comedy standard, the befuddled drunk stumbling over a regular word. Only Mr. Senile wasn’t making a joke.

“Gina has great respect for Donald Trump and for Donald Trump’s…. ah brain.”

      anomynush
      oranges
This brain is rotting away with increasing rapidity.

    2. The “participation trophy” insult is bizarre. As if children were the ones who decided whether or not that would be a thing. This insult can only be a criticism of their Baby Boomer parents, and happened about 25 years ago. So, it is one of the more nonsensical insults out there.

      Also, “millineal”? Yikes.

  2. That’s quite a read. Definitely worth reading. After reading it, there is no doubt that Google’s mantra of “Do no evil” is nothing but a facade to placate the hoi polloi.

  3. MDN has no moral authority on this. When MDN changes its profit engine away from Google Adsense, then they can attack Google. Until then, stop with the hypocrisy. You are feeding them and they are feeding you.

For the record, I use no Google services and have no Google apps installed on our computers that Apple didn’t force on me. You cannot claim the same, can you, MDN?

  4. Regarding Google’s share of searches at 92.19%, one step for those that think it too high can be to petition Apple to stop taking money from Google to make it the default search engine. That will at least get those on iOS that haven’t explicitly chosen a specific search engine off Google Search. After that it’s pretty much users actually choosing to use Google or support sites that make it the default back-end search engine.
