Samsung follows Apple, as usual; kills headphone jack on the upcoming Galaxy Note 10

Chaim Gartenberg for The Verge:

Are you a current owner of a Samsung Galaxy device and a pair of wired headphones? Did it feel like someone just walked on your grave? It may be because pictures of Samsung’s upcoming 3.5mm to USB-C dongle just leaked as the final, irrefutable confirmation that Samsung will be joining the ranks of Apple… in killing the headphone jack on the upcoming Galaxy Note 10.

With Samsung — the last major holdout — seemingly on board with the effort to kill the 3.5mm headphone jack, the war on the headphone jack is effectively over, and the dongles have won.

MacDailyNews Take: Shocking.

What’s next, is the slavish copier going to put Apple logos on the backs of their iPhone wannabes, too? They might as well, the “justice system” wouldn’t give two shits. — MacDailyNews, December 6, 2016

  1. Well, Samsung kept it as long as it could and made all the tech Youtubers focus on and criticize the iPhone’s missing headphone jack for a few years. That must be worth something. I always figured it was inevitable flagship smartphones would lose the headphone jack, but hey, what do I know. Does that indicate Apple was innovative and ahead of its time? Was removing the headphone jack showing Apple’s courage? It’s rather amusing. I don’t think it really matters one way or another. Times change in the tech world and consumers should probably get used to it. Wired headphone, BT headphone. It’s all the same to me. Hardly worth crying over.

  2. Seems Sammy will make this move guilt free as Apple will soon swap out the Lighting connector for a USB-C connector on the iphone. So it’s all meaningless–except Sammy should’ve STFU when Apple dropped the headphone jack. It was a design decision that Samsung should just respect and move on instead of acting like hypocritical opportunist a-holes..

  3. I updated a new version on my Galaxy Note 10. After that, I couldn’t turn it on. The first Samsung logo mark appeared but it was only flickering. I fixed the problem by flashing the phone. On this site https://sfirmware.com I found the firmware file I needed and a tutorial on how to do it.
