Apple CEO Cook offers tribute to Japanese Kyoto Animation studio after mass murder

William Mallard for Reuters:

Tributes to the Japanese animation studio ravaged in a suspected arson attack lit up social media on Friday, with world leaders and Apple Inc’s chief executive offering condolences to the families of the 33 people who were killed.

The man suspected of torching the studio of Kyoto Animation, which resulted in Japan’s worst mass killing in two decades, did so because he believed the company had plagiarized his novel, media said on Friday.

He wheeled a trolley carrying at least one bucket of petrol to the entrance of the building in Kyoto city, in western Japan, before dousing the area, shouting “die” and setting it ablaze on Thursday, broadcaster Nippon TV said, citing police.

MacDailyNews Take: It is a truly sick mind that devalues the lives of others to the point of nothingness in relation to its own perceived grievances, warped beliefs, or twisted whims.

Our condolences to the victims of Kyoto Animation and their families and friends.

    1. Maybe the victims and their families don’t subscribe to your way of expressing your personal shock about this.

Did you really pray or is your comment just the standard BS people say after a mass shooting or killing?

Your “prayers” are useless. Doubly so if you intend them to be heard for some imaginary all-knowing and all-powerful deity who you may think runs the show.

I wish I had $100 for every time some politician or religion believing person offered up their “Prayers and sympathies” after a mass killing. I’d be rich. Then if you add another $100 for everything they failed to change anything about anybody I’d have two fortunes instead of just one.

      1. Hey Michaele 1111111111

Take a nap. Better yet, take a walk….

….off a high cliff. Quit picking on well-intentioned people who don’t share your existentialist horsecrap. For some folks, just knowing that others share in their grief helps them to cope. Just wait until someday you’re desperate for help and you’ve driven away the nicer people with your spouted drivel.

Enjoy your satanic cults. You deserve each other.

      2. It may very well be that the victims and families don’t subscribe to my way of expressing, but then again I’m not asking them to join me. For all I know they may want to get drunk and party and that’s fine with me.

Yes, I really pray, it’s a very personal thing, somewhat unique as it stems from a child hood experience when a spider moved just as about I was going to step on it and I only half crushed it. It was dead but it happened to be a pregnant mother and all of these little spiders went from her twithing body scrambling everywhere. A myriad of emotions came into focus at once, the initial fear of the spider, with the realization that I had killed a mother, the new life of these orphans. Through my tears I made that pure child like commitment of honoring life. That’s my prayer, and it’s very personal to me, i.e. I do not expect others to subscribe to it.

I do express similar comments when such events happen (see MDN posts on Parkland, Thousand Oaks, Capital Gazette and Je Suis Charlie as examples. I usually keep my comment short because there can be many replies, and I tend not to get into any side conversations.

I beg to differ at my post being the standard BS people say, at least on MDN. I refer you in particular to Parkland post. There are 184 replies there, mine is a comment similar to the one made here, but it is not the standard type of comment for that headline. That’s useful to know, you’d make an even greater fortune if you had $100 for the other types of comments.

Existence/life runs the show for me. If that includes an all-powerful entity, that’s kewl, there’s a lot I don’t know. I just try to honor my self awareness as much as I can in my own personal way. One thing I’m 99.9% certain is that I’m going to die. Sharing all aspects of life, including the passing of others adds adds a deep rich diverse perspective to my life.

I have taken the time to address and answer your questions as best I can, I do hope that they satisfy your inquiry. I have a question myself based on your comment. What would you recommend I/others/politicians/MDN post as an alternative?

  1. As someone myself who has worked in stop motion animation over the years this is an incredibly violent, sad and pointless attack on innocent people. The perpetrator needs to be burned at the stake, very slowly.

    1. Burn the guy at the stake, very slowly. Let’s kill someone to get even. Great response. Very helpful. That is sure to bring those people back to life and I am sure it will really help their families.
