While it’s not enabled by default, Apple has brought the long-awaited mouse support to iPad with iPadOS 13.
The first release of iPadOS will bring mouse support as an accessibility feature. It’s easy to pair a device and enable mouse functionality and iPads even work with custom shortcut buttons on mice like Logitech’s MX Master 2S.

That circular cursor is obnoxious. A mouse pointer isn’t a fingertip, and it shouldn’t resemble one.
It’s not supposed to be a mouse pointer – it’s supposed to be an assistive device that represents a finger for touch motions. The fact that is works with a mouse is due to the fact that assistive devices use the same communication protocols and functions to represent gestures.
