“According to a wide variety of analysts following Apple, the Trump Administration’s trade war with China and its Entity Listing of Huawei is maybe somewhat bad for the largest Android producer in China — and perhaps even for Android, given that it has now lost its second largest licensee globally — but it’s mostly just bad news for Apple, because both the state and people of China are going to respond by shunning Apple’s products,” Daniel Eran Dilger writes for AppleInsider. “That’s wrong, here’s why.”
“The initial problem for Apple is supposedly that patriotic P.R.C. citizens will revolt and hate on Apple. Between the carefully censored Weibo social media and reports from state newspapers, it appears that the people of China are all ready to pile up their iPhones and burn them. But there’s nothing new about reports of a Chinese boycott of Apple. Back in 2016, there was a supposed boycott of Apple related to a UN decision that year, the same year that Apple sold the most new iPhones ever,” Dilger writes. “While iPhone upgrades have dropped significantly over the last two quarters in China, sales of other Apple products have remained strong. That indicates that customers may be delaying upgrades of their phones as the economy slides sideways, but continue to invest in Apple’s premium brand when they buy new iPads or MacBooks, or make purchases from the App Store. If there were a real boycott of Apple, it wouldn’t just be having an effect on phones.”

I’ve been on the ground in China for the past year. No such thing as boycotting apple.
If you were in China you would have heard the calls for boycotts. Since the Trump ban on Huawei, it has been one of the top 10 trending Weibo topics almost every day. The Huawei spat has featured prominently in news coverage. Today Chinese officials announced they would leverage their controls of natural resources like rare earth metals to inflict pain on US electronics firms. The obvious main target is the one remaining US phone designer, Apple.
America hasn’t even started to feel the pain of a trade war yet. Stockpile now because if China wants to retaliate, you will soon see how well prepared American isn’t.

also they are speculating on exports to USA but Apple builds in China, Japan, Korea., so how much it affects Apple is hard to guess.
Ah, I remember the good old days in China when a spat over Diaoyu islands would cause mindless drones to, upon entering a convenience store, ask to see the Business License, to check if it was owned by a Japanese company or not. If so, they’d march out.

There is no official Chinese Government action against apple.
Also Huawei boss says he does not want retaliation against Apple. He said Apple was his teacher and why would he retaliate against his teacher. He also publicly stated he and family uses Apple phones and other products.

Huawei Founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei said he doesn’t expect China to retaliate against Apple, despite the Chinese telecom company being blacklisted by the White House.
Reuters noted that the CEO would “protest” any moves by the Chinese government for retaliation against Apple because of the White House stepping up the trade war. Earlier in May, the U.S. slapped $200 billion of tariffs on goods coming into the U.S.
“That [Chinese retaliation against Apple] will not happen first of all, and second of all, if that happens, I’ll be the first to protest,” Ren said, reported Reuters
