Chimpanzee using Apple iPhone to browse Instagram goes viral

“Unique animals get a lot of attention on social media, and the latest example is a savvy chimpanzee intentionally browsing Instagram on iPhone,” Michael Potuck reports 9to5Mac.

“Mike Holston (@therealtarzann on Instagram) shared the video of the chimpanzee scrolling, swiping, and browsing Instagram with precision a few days ago,” Potuck reports. “The original post has seen over 1.4 million views, as users across other social media sites like Reddit and Twitter have been reposting the impressive video.”

  1. THIS. This is the most prime (or primate, if you will) evidence of the true genius of iOS since its incarnation. I know that many people, particularly professional users, are always clamoring for more functionality. I get it. But just watch this and behold the incredible amount of thought and engineering that went into creating computers that very young children, elders with no computer experience, those with developmental disabilities and even chimpanzees can use. I will never sacrifice my 5k iMac or ultraportable but powerful MacBook for an iPad . . . .but that’s because what I do for a living just demands something else. However, I’ve always been in awe of just how powerful iOS is vs. its learning curve. Amazing, and Apple and all the software developers who have taken those concepts even further via the App Store — you all have my respect.

    1. Agreed, it’s the over enthusiasm about everything else that’s the problem. Want to impress me, have it come up as default the way it is, but also have a “full blown, no restriction” mode. Otherwise, this monkey is holding smarter monkeys back.
