“Samsung’s $1,980 Galaxy Fold phone is breaking for some users after a day or two of use. A review unit given to CNBC by Samsung is also completely unusable after just two days of use,” Todd Haselton reports for CNBC. “The phone has only been given to gadget reviewers, but some of the screens appear to be disconnecting and permanently flashing on or off.”
“The Verge’s Dieter Bohn posted earlier on Wednesday that his phone appears to have a defective hinge with a ‘small bulge’ that he can feel that’s causing the screen to ‘slightly distort.’ Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says his ‘review unit is completely broken just two days in,’ but noted he accidentally removed a protective film on the screen,” Haselton reports. “However, CNBC didn’t remove that layer, and our screen is now also failing to work properly. When opened, the left side of the flexible display, which makes up a large 7.3-inch screen, flickers consistently. It looks like this:”

MacDailyNews Take: Oh, to be a fly on the wall inside the South Korean dishwasher maker’s PR department. They just got done putting out fires, literally, from the self-combusting Galaxy Notes a couple of years ago and those exploding washing machines they were peddling, now this! Such busy, busy, busy bees are those Sammy PR flacks.

You need to be more gentle or only close it a maximum of three times per day. 1,980.00\2 days = $990.00 per day. THAT’S GREAT!

Just for fun and if it is still on the market after just 4 weeks, I’ve set up a reminder to go to an AT&T store to try out a fold. I plan to turn it on and open and close it 100 times while singing “100 bottles of beer on the wall” and see the salesman’s face when it breaks.
AT&T won’t care but hopefully a Samdung rep will be close by.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, know when to run! Run far away from this product as far as you can! Don’t buy it!
They should have waited until Apple came out with one and then Copied That! Tisk, Tisk Samsung, what are you doing trying to design your own products. Stick to being a supplier to Apple, and others. That’s what you are good at. Love my Samsung SSD inside my MacBook Pro!
