Apple wins seven-year trademark dispute over the name ‘iPad’

“US District Judge Liam O’Grady has ruled in favor of Apple and handed RXD Media a defeat in a 2012 trademark dispute over the name ‘iPad,'” William Gallagher reports for AppleInsider.

“RXD Media had claimed in 2012 that it had prior use of the name in its ‘ipad.mobi’ platform, with it established two years before Apple launched its tablet computer,” Gallagher reports. “This ruling upholds one by Trademark Trial and Appeal Board which found in favor of Apple in 2018, which means that the case is now concluded.”

“During the process, Apple had made a counterclaim that RXD Media was infringing on Apple’s iPad trademark, and Judge O’Grady agreed,” Gallagher reports. “‘The evidence of infringement is overwhelming,’ he concluded.”

The complete iPad lineup now includes Apple Pencil support, best-in-class performance, advanced displays and all-day battery life.

    1. It’s an essential process in Capitalism, the unbridled accumulation of wealth: It’s to create institutional strife among them. It gives the wealthiest Capitalist a longer opportunity to wait out the poorer Capitalist.

      1. Dear John,

We get it: you hate capitalism. Out of curiosity, do you propose socialism or communism as a better alternative? Have you ever lived in a socialist or communist country? If so, was it truly ‘heaven on earth’ for you?

Alternatively, you could suggest that every person in the world simply hold hands and sing Kumbaya while agreeing to share everything equally (even if I choose to stay at home and watch TV all day, just know that I should still get an equal share of those who are able-bodied and choose to work). Good luck with that. Maybe one day, decades or even hundreds of years from now, that will be possible. But for now, I’m a firm believer that capitalism — imperfect as it is — is the best economic model that we have on this planet, all things considered.

Instead of complaining, try proposing a realistic solution that will actually work. I absolutely WILL keep an open mind if you do so.
