“Apple has settled on a date for its first big product announcement of 2019,” John Paczkowski reports for Buzzfeed News. “Sources tell BuzzFeed News that the company plans to hold a special event on March 25 at the Steve Jobs Theater on its Apple Park campus.”
“Headlining the gathering: That subscription news service that has been all over the news today,” Paczkowski reports. “Unlikely to make an appearance: next generation Airpods, or that rumored new iPad Mini.”
“Sources described the event as subscription services focused, but declined to say anything about Apple’s standalone video streaming service which is also rumored to debut in 2019,” Paczkowski reports. “Earlier this year, The Information reported that Apple had told studios and networks to prepared for an April launch.”

MacDailyNews Take: While we’d love to see the video streaming service appear sooner than later, we’d expect Apple to reveal it in an event separate from the news subscription service so that the announcements don’t step on each other unless Apple plans an event to announce an “Apple Prime” and can roll them both out together as two new important parts (perhaps joining Apple Music and iCloud storage) of that overarching bundle theme.
We’d really like to see a way to pay for all of the Apple services we choose for one price. Give us a bunch of tick boxes and let us choose our combination of iCloud storage, Apple Music, iTunes Match, etc. and let us pay a single price for all of our choices. — MacDailyNews, October 17, 2016

Without the registration dots, I can’t tell who’s verified and who’s a poser — you included. The imitation game, it seems, has expanded beyond the strategies of Alan Turing into the craven new world of identity spoofing. Anyone can play this moronic game. But it leaves linguistic fingerprints, of a sort, which had enabled me in the past to deduce who was who. Needless to say, MDN has the traces and can tell who’s cheating, but they seldom took action to arrest vehement threads until it boiled over.
Ultimately, social sites tend to eschew responsibility for hurtful transmissions, and by now I think we all know why that is: it’s about the money and always has been. Squeaky wheels will get greased, then swept under the rug. Challenge site owners, and expect excuses.
The internet, through aggregation, amplifies the worst instincts of homo sapiens — making hate the new black. Me saying this changes nothing, but a large number of people demanding legislation could do so. Internet operators on their own, even MDN, just can’t bring themselves to do so voluntarily. The money is too good.
Multiple same handles or quasi-same handles here are no risk or threat, and I enjoy the them. After all, this site is not about tech as much as it is poke-in-the-eye articles and about entertaining, sometimes insightful, comments. The more people that spoof a name, the more significant and, yes, influential (in a good or bad way) the person with the original handle is.
Then again, maybe art is imitating life. The irascible joy of intimacy may actually cure our nocturnal beliefs in the finality of this existence. At least in theory, who we think we are may someday actually be exactly what we become; or some facsimile thereof in the nether sphere.

People are getting tired of subscriptions and companies keep rolling them out. Now they are forcing subscriptions on people just to get basic functionality.
Don’t sub to anything, pirate if necessary.

Subscriptions have a long history, in print media, for example so no problem there. Online subs may be garbage though, with Photoshop for example. And also supplements subscriptions. Watch out for those. They the lowest form of garbage because many are auto subscriptions; They need to time out after a period in order to reevaluate.
Trolls feel sophisticated when they create multiple identites, not realizing the transparency of these specious posts stand out like a sore thumb. Reality sets in when the troll realizes that even though they have been perpetrating this fraud for years, it was known all along. Now with your secret formally exposed, we don’t feel so confident and intelligent now.

Your post really sets me straight…I’ve been naive. I thought ID stealing was relatively new on MDN, as it’s something I’ve just noticed in the last month, or so, and personally just this week.
My pollyanna garb has been pulled off. It’s a reality that makes me embrace increased analogue living. It’s a good thing catalyzed by the wrong thing.
People have been stealing identities since the time consciousness and identity first emerged, be it after creation or after millions of years of evolution.
Am I really a dog or a cat surfing the Internet? Does John Dingler have a big dongler? Is ZeroRandy pretending to be Sean because the ZeroRandy account has been blocked by MDN?
It’s hard to know whether that splinter in your mind is the matrix, or just concussion.

YES! Imposters are all over MDN the past month. Every time I point it out to be on the lookout good citizens — they pull my post!
I’m with Dave and Rob. We do have one subscription (Stan in Australia) but we also do Usenet. To get everything we want we’s have to have about four subscriptions and that’s just plain nuts.
One of my friends, who has AppleTV is also doing Usenet as well. And another one subscribes to Netflix but also does Usenet because he’s sick and tired of just “renting” media.
Yes it’s piracy but I for one am sick and tired of being viewed as a milk cow. I’ve tried to do the right thing but enough is enough.
