“According to our source, Apple AirPods 2 will look largely identical to the current AirPods from the outside. However, Apple has made some changes on the inside to allow for more impressive bass response,” Babu Mohan reports for MySmartPrice. “For improved grip, the upcoming wireless earphones may come with a new coating on top, similar to the one Google uses for its Pixel smartphones. A similar coating will reportedly be used on the “high-end” iPhone 11 variant this year, according to a report published by DroidShout last week.”
“As some previous leaks had claimed, the AirPods 2 will include more sensors compared to its predecessor. Some rumors suggest these new sensors on the AirPods 2 will be used for the new health features, including heart rate monitoring,” Mohan reports. “In terms of battery life, AirPods are likely to be more or less similar to the original AirPods, as the battery size is said to be identical. Apple will be offering the AirPods 2 in two colors: Black and White. While the original AirPods were launched at $159 in the US, the AirPods 2 are expected to be priced around $200.”
“Our source has also claimed that the AirPower wireless charging pad will finally be released in Spring this year, alongside the wireless charging case for the first-generation AirPods,” Mohan reports. “The AirPower wireless charging pad is likely to be priced around $150 at launch. Since the AirPower is set to go on sale soon, TV commercials for the wireless charging pad are reportedly being filmed currently.”

In the interest of mathematical accuracy, the difference between the price of the current AirPods ($159) and the expected price of the new AirPods ($200) is $41.
That represents an increase of approximately 25.8% [41/159*100] based on the expected price. Not 33%, not 66%, and not stratospheric.
As far as Zerorandy’s comment about “poorly made Chinese junk,” I can only snort in derision. Apple’s products are widely acknowledged to be of extremely high quality. That is besides the fact that many corporations rely on China to manufacture their products. There are relatively few options, as Apple has discovered with its efforts to manufacture the trashcan Mac Pro in the U.S.

But seriously, change the colours from the toilet ball white to Black, white, yellow, red, purple and shocking pink etc, to assimilate to skin colours so that noodles would be less conspicuous.
Price? What’s new… There are many excellent similar products of more practical value at far less price.

The battery life in mine has never been great. I’ve had them for just over a year, and I now get 1 hour on a call before the low-battery noise. It’s no big deal if I’m just using one, since I can tag-team them, but they’re supposed to have 2 hours of talk time, and I’m seeing half that after a year of light/moderate use (and I never got 2 hours, even when new).
Take ’em back. I made a number of calls on mine, recently, culminating in a two-hour discussion with my brother and the low batt sound did not cut in until I was just about to hang up. If anything, the battery lasts too long!
Don’t want sensors improve battery!
So, $200 for something that will last 2 years and the battery will be toast. Well that’s special.
At 2 years of abuse mine are dead/faulty. Will take care of these v.2 like a baby.
