“Whatever it is ultimately named, the successor to the iPhone XR expected later in 2019 will be equipped with a 4-by-4 MIMO antenna for better wireless connections,” Roger Fingas reports for AppleInsider.
“The current iPhone XR is limited to 2-by-2 MIMO, unlike its siblings, the iPhone XS and XS Max,” Fingas reports. “The latter phones can achieve twice the 4G speeds of the XR, and sometimes have more reliable connections under weak signal conditions.”
“The research note by Barclays that suggests the antenna improvements was seen by AppleInsider,” Fingas reports. “It isn’t clear in the note if this is a prediction made by the analysts, or if there is any solid information from the supply chain suggesting the improvement is forthcoming. ”

MacDailyNews Take: Anything that mkaes the next-gen iPhone more capable and attractive sounds like a great idea to us!
I want a pocket-size SE2, with ergonomic home button.
Serious question–
Was the recent 2 hour sellout of the iPhone SE this weekend a SE Market test by Apple to see if SE demand still exists??
ALOT of persons want an updated SE2…..I think it would be a huge seller for the iPhone “minimalist” consumer demographic…..
Especially because the SE still has a headphone jack.
…and a real (spring-activated) home button.
Not sure but Costco now selling SE in Canada so that sound like they still have plans for it
They’re selling them off is more like it (it seems that way anyhow). $299 CAD for entry SE unlocked. Wow. I almost want to buy one, just because 🙂
A lot of stuff ends up at Costco for “liquidation” purposes. Then we never see it again. Like my favorite Asian nut/snack mix, I can’t find it anymore at Costco. I hate it when that happens. 🙂
Again, if Apple want to light a fire under iPhone sales, make them 5G capable in 2019. Sales will continue to languish through 2020 if it isn’t an option.
5G is premature until they actually begin to build out the network, isn’t it? They can’t even decide whether or not to let Huawei contribute yet.
