Computerworld reviews Apple’s new iPad Pro: ‘The best tablet you can get’

“I’ve been using a new iPad Pro for about a week,” Jonny Evans writes for Computerworld. “Once you become used to using multitouch on the device you’ll be smashing through the apps, getting work done and taking advantage of Split View, Slide Over and all the other multi-tasking tools inside these things. The only slight frustration (still) being the inability to open two instances of the same app side-by-side – unless you are using Safari. Apple must surely be considering tabbed windows for apps as a workaround for this?”

“Is it a computer replacement? Of course not. We’ll always need a few trucks,” Evans writes. “But for tens of millions of computer users, iPad Pro is all the computer they need – and the number of tasks it can accomplish is growing – it will even run Photoshop next year.”

“It’s the best iPad Pro since the last one with a faster processor than many notebook PCs. With its world-class design, rock-solid operating system and a deluge of apps, Apple’s pro tablet is the best tablet you can get,” Evans writes. “Apple’s new iPad Pro is the Aston Martin of tablets and defines the future shape of the industry.”

MacDailyNews Take: The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is amazingly compact. It’s very different than the previous 12.9-inch model, with its giant bezels and anachronistic Home button. If you can get to an Apple Store to try them out in person, do it!

The answer isn’t to try to make the iPad into a MacBook. The answer is to provide all the tools possible in iOS for developers to make robust apps that can take advantage of the multi-touch paradigm. — MacDailyNews, May 16, 2017

    1. No doubt. 🙂
Upgraded from 1st gen 12.9 pro..
Its an enourmouse improvement .. 😉

Love the thing,, it just need an iOS-PRO. With full core file management sys and open io .

Hope Tim and Team are listening.

      1. Ok, so if you get it, you do realize that what you’ll have is basically a Mac, right? Wouldn’t it be simpler to add touch capability (screen, not the lame touchbar) to Mac? The mental gymnastics we are all willing to go through to convince ourselves of things these days is outrageous. Apple already makes Macs with a pro OS.

        1. Nope it wont be a mac.. it will not be a notebook..

I dont use keyboards on ipad.

It will be an ipad with a professional level OS… and it would be a dream come true for me..
The hatdware is there with this new ipad Pros… its just the file sys and the io restrictions that hold it back.
And whats wrong with having a few fully capable computers in different form factors.
Choice is not a negative here.

  1. I’m sure it is. The Apple watch is absolutely best in class, too. I don’t want either a watch or a tablet. Where does that leave people like myself and others that feel similarly? I can tell you this, too: even the people that love their phone and their watch do not necessarily want a tablet, and if they do, it will be used primarily for watching Netflix. Silicon Valley has really done a number on itself by forgetting who they are.
