“Super Micro Computer Inc said on Monday it will review its hardware for any proof of malicious chips as alleged in a recent media report,” Sonam Rai reports for Reuters. “‘Despite the lack of any proof that a malicious hardware chip exists, we are undertaking a complicated and time-consuming review to further address the article,’ the chipmaker said in a letter to its customers dated Oct. 18.”
“A Bloomberg report on Oct.4 cited 17 unidentified sources from intelligence agencies and businesses that claimed Chinese spies had placed computer chips inside equipment used by about 30 companies, including Apple Inc and Amazon.com Inc and multiple U.S. government agencies, which would give Beijing secret access to internal networks. Super Micro denied the allegations made in the report,” Rai reports. “Both Apple and Amazon have denied the allegations. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook told online news website BuzzFeed on Friday that Bloomberg should retract the story.”

Yes, it was based on dubious intelligence and Dubya had a promise to keep after a high profile media proclamation standing atop a fire truck in NYC after 9/11.
You better sit down. It had more to do with the corporate military complex protecting oil interests. The Bush family has been involved in oil industry for years and certainly knows the right side of their buttered bread. A lot of innocent lives were lost, unfortunately that happens in every war.
That said, not all bad to stop a dictator on a rampage after invading a sovereign nation (Kuwait) to disrupt and control a portion of world oil supplies.

The deal is that the US itself puts spy stuff that it sells to China as well as to any other competing nation. All competing nations do this. The NSA even intercepts gadgets that are shipped to suspects to plant spy bugs. It then has experts tasked with producing undetectable repackaging.
The point being that the NSA, or its girlfriend CIA, is likely to have planted this story to divert attention or for some other nefarious reason.
