2018 iPad Pro render shows edge-to-edge display, Home button-free design

“Renders shared to Twitter on Thursday are claimed to show Apple’s 2018 iPad Pro design, incorporating a near bezel-free display, reduced thickness, and retro-styled edges,” Roger Fingas reports for AppleInsider.

“One of the new Pros should be 5.86 millimeters thick, according to images shared by well-known leak source Ben Geskin,” Fingas reports. “That compares against 6.1 millimeters on the current 10.5-inch model, and 6.9 millimeters on the 12.9-inch tablet.”

“Another claimed design change is flat edges, akin to older Apple products like the iPhone 4,” Fingas reports. “Apple is expected to announce its new Pros sometime this month. Multiple reports have pointed to reduced bezels, but none to flattened edges.”

  1. I am thrilled still with the last iPad Pro even without Face I.D. I won’t be upgrading anytime soon unless this iPad becomes demonstrably slow for my purposes which isn’t likely for some time to come. Still always nice to see the advances come our way for others in their upgrade cycle.

    1. Me too. Just wish my 10.5” iPad Pro had a haptic home button. An actual physical button feels so utterly cheap after using an iPhone 7 for two years. That’s the only complaint. I’m actually hoping for the chamfered edges like the iPhone 5’s. That and the iPhone 4’s had the best feel. Have never liked the rounded edges.
