“But the guilt passed quickly,” Johnson writes. “Within seconds my attention had already turned back to my new iPhone XS Max, a device that does many of the tasks my iPad Pro does more comfortably and efficiently.”
“Nothing about the iPhone XS Max won me over quite like its gorgeous 6.5-inch display,” Johnson writes. “Before the iPhone XS Max, I was already somewhat sidelining the iPad Pro, in part because it no longer fits well in my workflow. Apple’s tablet was once my workhorse, but these days I find the 12-inch MacBook handily replaces it.”

Don’t get us, wrong, the iPhone Xs Max is a wondrous device – it’s Apple’s flagship iPhone, after all – but it cannot replace an iPad Pro for those who really use iPad Pro to create, not just consume.
Oh please tell us about those magic kids that are a “wonder” to watch on iPads using them to their real potential while all us old ignorants watch in ‘awww’. Sure, they are big time creators there. Hey, that must be where all those creative pros went since Apple stopped giving a **** about professional and enthusiast users with the Mac Pro/iMac Pro. All are on their iPads.

I have a 2 week old MB Pro that I thought would replace my iPad Pro. Nope. Now I carry 3 devices – those two and my iPhone 7S. The iPad is mostly for consumption now, though, and is actually better for some of that than the MacBook.

Of course there was a 7S. Apple simply misprinted “8” on the side of the box.
An artist/illustrator cannot replace an iPad or a Mac with a phone. Period. Music creation is another story… But, yes- these devices are not equal, not all of us need all 3, some of us want and own all 3, some of us do and some of us don’t need or use the watch. This constant obsession with choosing which one is ridiculous. I own all 3, no watch- yet. But my phone and my iMac are necessities, though I also love my iPad.

I am using an iPhone Xs Max 512 and put all my music collection in it. However, without an AirPod the iPhone cannot compete with wonderful sound of my 2015 12.9” iPad Pro.
