Apple fans seem more excited for Apple’s new iPhones this year

“In terms of Google search trends, things are looking pretty good this year,” Emily Bary reports for Barron’s. “‘Worldwide Google search intensity’” is higher for this launch than it was during the iPhone X cycle, though it’s about in line with the iPhone 7 cycle, and below the intensity of the iPhone 6 launch.”

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty “is encouraged that ‘search intensity’ for the word ‘iPhone’ is still on the rise a few weeks after the big announcement, which wasn’t the case over the past five years,” Bary reports. “A bit less encouraging are a drop in shipment times for the iPhone XS — not particularly surprising given that the phone is barely an improvement over the iPhone X — as well as ‘grey market’ iPhone prices in China.”

“‘Considering that the iPhone XS does not support dual-SIM technology while the iPhone XS Max does, Apple may have forecast very low volumes in China creating a supply/demand gap that explains higher grey market prices,’ Huberty writes,” Bary reports. “She thinks some Chinese consumers may be holding out for the cheaper iPhone XR, which has a slightly bigger screen than the XS and allows for dual SIM cards. ”

  1. I have been a Mac addict since 2001 when I bought my first iMac blue egg.. Now I have had many iMacs, MBP 15 and 13.. iPads.. watches ! My whole family is all Apple.. I am the last .. I still have a crappy mid level Android.. I wanted to get the new iPhone Xs.. but then come the reports of issues with Wifi and LTE.. so now I have to wait again to see if Apple needs to make a fix so that I don’t get a first generation faulty product.. it sucks! I will wait to see what happens and keep the crap android until next year.. no Christmas present for me…. And I type this from a 2017 MBP 13 16gb, 512gb laptop.. so I am not cheap.. I just don’t need problems added to my life..

BTW: Mojave killed FaceTime on my wife laptop.. it always goes to her phone and never to her MBP15 ! After going through apple support they tell me to reinstall Mojave clean install to fix the problem.. I think they don’t really know what the problem is and hope this fixes it.. so tonight I am backing up her MBP to external drive so that we can do the clean install.. I doubt it will fix the issue ! FaceTime is not that complicated! They haven’t even released the multi-contact version yet! Apple needs to step up its game in testing !

    1. Not a definitive response to your concerns about “reported” Wifi and LTE “problems”, but I’ve had my iPhone Xs Max for a week and haven’t experienced any problems.

  2. Another sample of fake news….they are advertising the “s” model because the Xs is not selling anywhere near what the X did last year. This is the first time in ten years I will not be upgrading my from my current X….getting the series 4 though…

  3. I am not excited.
These iPhones are far too expemsive for my wallet.
The pricing for these newest phone models puts them in Mac desktop/laptop territory, now folks.
Paying Mac prices for a phone, now, peoples!
And Apple has made the iPhone 7 the cheapest iPhone. now, but it is $100 more than the SE was!
I am on the hunt for an iPhone SE now.
Some retailers still have stock and I can get a base model 32 GBs SE on my phone plan for less than $200, now.
