Apple expected to expand iPhone lineup with biggest, most expensive model yet (along with cheaper alternatives)

“Apple is expected to unveil its biggest and most expensive iPhone on Wednesday as part of a lineup of three new models,” Michael Liedtke reports for The Associated Press. “Most of the buzz is swirling around a rumored iPhone that is supposed to boast a 6.5-inch OLED screen, up from 5.8 inches on the existing iPhone X.”

“If the speculation pans out, the even-bigger iPhone would represent Apple’s attempt to feed consumers’ appetite for increasingly bigger screens as they rely on smartphones to watch and record video, as well as take photos wherever they are,” Liedtke reports. “The iPhone X, a dramatically redesigned model released last fall, got rid of the home button and introduced facial-recognition technology to unlock the device. It was the first mass-market smartphone to demand a $1,000 starting price.”

“Apple also is expected to release an iPhone with minor updates to last year’s $1,000 model and another version made of cheaper materials, including a 6.1-inch LCD screen. Even so, the cheaper iPhone is still expected to sell for $650 to $750. The cheaper phone also is expected to lose the home button,” Liedtke reports. “Price cuts for older models, with the home button, are also likely.”

      1. that an equivalent BMW sedan costs twice as much as a Toyota Corolla and the Toyota is actually far more reliable? What makes sense for others doesn’t make sense for you. Why do you have such a problem with that?

    1. Just looked it up. With 512GB it’s AU$2369!!!

I’m sure it’s brilliant, but I’d much rather pay another 15 weeks of my home loan, y’know? My 4S cost an old owner’s manual I would’ve thrown out if a friend hadn’t wanted it. MUCH better bang for the buck! 😉

  1. There are all sorts of expensive devices out there, you may get what you pay for, its up to you..

The iPhone is a computer by the way.. just because it doesn’t have a 13″ screen or better, doesn’t mean its not a computer, with potentially as much processing power as some current computers and much more than older ones

If your really hanging on to older models because of price and they meet your needs, up to you, though it does seem that you could find a better used iPhone than an SE or 4S if its not BS, for a reasonable price and move up.

However, many people like having a current generation device, and the performance and perks that come with having one.
