Apple leaks image of upcoming 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch ‘iPhone XS’

“Earlier today Apple officially announced when and where it will hold its next big event,” Guilherme Rambo reports for 9to5Mac. “Apple’s September 12th event is expected to include the introduction of three new iPhones, and 9to5Mac can exclusively share the first look at both new 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED iPhones: the iPhone XS.”

“We believe that the new 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhones will both be called iPhone XS. We also believe iPhone XS will come in a new gold color option not previously offered on the new desig,” Rambo reports. “Other details are still to be determined, but we can report with certainty that iPhone XS will be the name, the OLED model will come in two sizes including a larger version, and each will be offered in gold for the first time.”

MacDailyNews Take: Ooh, that 6.5-inch in gold really will be an iPhone XS!

That said, death to the “S” (although we can understand the temptation was likely far too great for Phil to resist “XS”)!

  1. The name iPhone XS makes sense. It does not appear that “Plus” will be used. If that is the case, it makes perfect sense, and indicates the display and battery size will be the only differentiators.

It will be interesting to see what the LCD model will be called, perhaps simply iPhone, or iPhone 9, or will it be iPhone SE?

    1. I think Steve Jobs never created in an environment that HIS company created of consumers who want to know everything. TCook is operating in a completely different era from Steve. I agree with this tactic. You can’t stop it from getting out there (too much under the table $). Undermine the leakers and leak it yourself, with images! Save a little something for the reveal .

  2. I don’t understand why it’s a big deal that new iPhones are coming out in different colors. They are so fragile that you have to put them in an ugly case anyway. The case determines the color. I dropped my iPhone from the dizzying height of 3 inches, which dented the case and shattered the screen. I got a case from Walmart for $10 that protects my iPhone from a fall of six feet. Why can’t Apple make iPhones as robust as Walmart cases?
