“Audio accessories from Denon and Marantz are gaining support for AirPlay 2 through firmware updates that are being distributed starting today,” Juli Clover reports for MacRumors.
“With the AirPlay 2 update, compatible Denon and Marantz devices offer support for multi-room audio and are able to work with other AirPlay 2 devices such as the HomePod, the Apple TV, and Sonos speakers,” Clover reports. “Both companies offer multiple AirPlay 2-compatible receiver options that are being updated with AirPlay 2 support.”
“Both the Marantz and Denon brands are owned by Sound United, which also owns the Polk brand,” Clover reports. “It’s not clear when Polk devices will receive AirPlay 2 updates.”

Denon? Never again! Bought a high-end speaker system nearly three years ago. The iOS software is atrocious, WiFi is lost at least once per hour, if you turn it off then you have to set it up again! And the “best” bit? The software is not compatible with iOS 11 (crashes constantly), and will not be developed further.
Screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice … not gonna happen!

Anybody who uses high quality Receivers/Pre/Pros for AirPlay deserves some crap. Get off your lazy ass and set up a streaming solution like Roon provides…you control everything through your iPad….not some crappy WiFi that sounds no better than your iPhone…

Love my Denons. I agree the remote apps are clunky. But for me the sound quality of the X series and the build quality is great. My oldest is 14 years old and still going strong.
As much as I love that Airplay 2 is rolling out, I do wish Denon would give an option to turn it off. Their implementation of AirPlay does support any access control via password. If you already have an Apple TV connected to your receiver, its redundant and confusing for people choosing which AirPlay device to send the audio to. Even Apple gives a way to turn off AirPlay on the Apple TV, Denon should also.
