Apple’s leadership page gets Memoji overhaul for World Emoji Day

“Memoji, one of the headline new features of iOS 12, is at the heart of an amusing overhaul of Apple’s Leadership webpage, with a custom three-dimensional Animoji character overlaid on top of the headshot of each key executive listed on the page,” Christian Zibreg writes for iDownloadBlog.

“All of the executive profiles accompanied by a headshot have received an Animoji Memoji treatment, including those of Apple’s boss Tim Cook, general counsel Katherine Adams, retail chief Angela Ahrendts, Internet software and services head Eddy Cue, software engineering lead Craig Federighi, Apple’s design tzar Jony Ive and others,” Zibreg writes. “Ahead of today’s World Emoji Day, the Cupertino firm yesterday previewed more than 70 new emoji characters that are coming to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac later this year.”

  1. Well, Apple seems to be run by 12 year olds, incapable of doing more than one task at a time, they might as well look the part.

Pipeline must be very proud that this top notch emoji team has responded to his pressure to crank out more emojis every year.

    Well done Pipeline, well done.

    1. Ha, I was going to write almost the same thing until I saw this post.

Seriously, who gives a crap about emojis? Please stop it Apple. Or, come out with an alternative iOS that is geared towards adults.

      1. Twelve-year-olds will be running the world in twenty years, so we should accord them some respect. Some would claim that twelve-year-olds are running the show now, and I would be hard-pressed to argue otherwise.

    1. You’re a serious thinker. Why do you think emoji are as popular as they are? And might that conceivably be a reason for tech companies to pay more attention to them than to the grumblings of superannuated computer users of yore?

  2. A few thoughts:

Emojis are NOT that important and way down the list in the grand scheme of things and would be fine if not taking time and focus AWAY from the Mac Pro, Mini, software, etc.

I have to snicker at the Skeuomorphism look of the emojis. Hey Jony, I see a hypocrite difference between the flat iOS icons and all the ILLUSTRATIVE emojis.

Interesting the fat and happy Apple executives have been reduced to Skeuomorphism CARTOONS, so fitting, and I won’t go into the narcissistic aspects of this distraction waste of time …

  3. Meanwhile Amazon will likely surpass Apple in market cap in the next 2 weeks. 2 years ago it was 1/3. Apple needs a real CEO this is becoming a joke.

Siri is a joke and could have been as big as the iPhone. But timid Tim ceded it to Amazon after a 4 year head start.
