Apple today announced a new 2018 Midterm Elections section in Apple News, providing what the company terms “a new resource for timely, trustworthy midterm election information and helping news seekers access the most important reporting and analysis from a diverse set of publishers.”
The 2018 Midterm Elections section helps readers follow the latest on the elections with breaking news, exclusive highlights and analysis from, as the compnay states in their press release, “reliable sources selected by Apple News’ team of experienced editors.”
Readers can quickly get up to speed on the most relevant topics and candidates by accessing the new section in the Apple News app from a banner across the top of the For You tab, as well as through Top Stories and the Spotlight tab.
“Today more than ever people want information from reliable sources, especially when it comes to making voting decisions,” said Lauren Kern, editor-in-chief of Apple News, in a statement. “An election is not just a contest; it should raise conversations and spark national discourse. By presenting quality news from trustworthy sources and curating a diverse range of opinions, Apple News aims to be a responsible steward of those conversations and help readers understand the candidates and the issues.”
Curation has been a guiding principle across Apple News since launch, with a team of editors focused on discovering and spotlighting well-sourced fact-based stories to provide readers with relevant, reliable news and information from a wide range of publishers. The 2018 Midterm Elections section includes special features with stories curated by Apple News editors from trusted publishers:
• The Conversation, a collection of opinion columns about hot-button issues that are intended to offer readers a full range of ideas and debate about important subjects, from news sources they may not already follow.
• On the Ground, which highlights quality reporting about issues that matter to local constituents on the most important races.
In addition to presenting coverage from Fox News, Vox and other publishers, Apple News will offer exclusive features, including:
• The Washington Post’s “Election Now,” a dashboard that brings to life important primary races by contextualizing key data like current polling, what pundits are saying and survey data on voter enthusiasm.
• A weekly briefing from Axios, featuring analysis of the most important developments as the primaries unfold.

The Apple News 2018 Midterm Elections section is available to readers in the US and will continue through the elections in November.

So you support fixing race against Bernie, Hillary getting questions before a debate, the constant obstruction from the left, spreading photos about the border from 2014, attacking and calling people names who don’t agree with, and I can go on and on.

If it’s Apple I would expect most of this Midterm Elections “news” will take a more liberal side and fail to balance out with conservative viewpoints. Not that I am an extreme of either.
I would tend to agree, but wait and see how Apple News handles it before rendering a judgment.
It is also worth noting that Apple has no obligation to be utterly unbiased and politically agnostic, although I would favor Apple attempting to follow that approach.
At least with Apple News, you know what to expect and Apple does not claim to be anything other than what it is. Other news sources, on the other hand, falsely claim the moral high ground as being “Fair and Balanced” without actually being either. The first obligation of a “news” agency is to be transparent about its backers, sources, and biases. The second obligation is to clearly separate fact from opinion.
The problem with curated news is just that. It’s curated.
The problem with the news in general is that it isn’t news, but biased tabloid-like propaganda poorly disguised as news.
Trying to figure out the truth about most anything anymore has become quite the chore and more time consuming than ever.
All news is curated. A random list of every published story would be as unusable as a library with random shelving and no catalogue.
I hate how the current generation doesn’t actually understand the word curation.

First of all, in mid 16th century England, the term took a religious interpretation since at that time the church was seen as the educated class, acting also as hospital and university in addition to strictly religious duties. A Curator was a clergyman appointed to assist a priest/rector/vicar, taking care of the parish and caring for “the curing of souls” and literally the care of parish sick.
Over time, as the church fell behind in its civil leadership and assumed basically just a religious and cultural role, the term curator shifted to a general term for a person charged with caring for and organizing a collection of stuff — NOT selecting or filtering it. A museum curator displays the collection, it is the director who procures the artifacts.
Only recently has the meaning erroneously shifted to an interpretation of person who acts as filter or selector. But the context is tainted, we have a brainwashed population that thinks their favorite talking head “curates” the news, that their online music service or DJ “curates” the music, and so forth.
A good news agency reports all newsworthy events without filter, though obviously priority is placed on stories they think will sell. Today there is no human news editor with any power. Algorithms bury facts and instead push opinion pieces as “news” to stir up the maximum controversy or accomplish propagandist goals.
A good DJ takes requests — he brings all the music he can carry and while he certainly can suggest tunes to fit the theme or occasion, the listener is supposed to choose. But human DJs are a nearly extinct species. Online services push algorithms that cure nothing — they simply give users more of the same stuff they (or whatever demographic bucket the service has partitioned you into) listened to an hour ago. BOOOOOORING. No music service will make a truly great eclectic playlist.
Which brings us to video. Do you think Google curates videos for you? Of course not. It suggests whatever it thinks will keep you watching videos based on its algorithms from spying on your every move. But it’s a big ocean of content that you, as the user, can select from. There is no curation.

“But is it good for Apple?”
Anything that treats “Fox News” as a serious organization is unworthy of your time or money.
I watch a Trump speech and go to CNN and they twist his words and make stuff up. I watch Fox and they repeat what he said. Trust Fox now over CNN or NBC News! The main stream media leans so far left you can’t believe them anymore!
You just articulated exactly what I have been seeing from CNN and the NYT ever since Trump won the election.
They immediately went 95% BATSH*T NEGATIVE on whatever he says or accomplishes. Two egregious examples to make the liberal media biased point:
1. Time magazine cover June 25: Beautiful photo of Trump and Kim during their “HISTORIC SUMMIT.” But the liberal media bias is evident in the headline and subhead that reads, “THE RISKIEST SHOW ON EARTH, TRUMP’S IMPULSE DIPLOMACY. Hey DavGreg, you call that “fair and balanced?”
Anyone that is reasonable sees that for what it is, a liberal media dig. I’ll prove it — imagine if Obama met with Kim. The positive media coverage would be off the charts with wall to wall effusive praise and the Nobel Peace Prize committee would issue a peace prize award almost immediately.
2. July 2 Time magazine cover: “WELCOME TO AMERICA.” This is the historic moment where Time magazine lost ALL CREDIBILITY for all TIME. You have two separate photos that have been photoshopped together to deliver a FALSE liberal media political point. For the Maxine supporters and snowflakes out there, allow me to translate. IT IS TOTALLY FAKE NEWS!Everyone connected with this false concoction should be fired immediately. This is journalistic wrongdoing of the highest order and totally irresponsible. The child in the photo was NOT separated from the mother and the child NEVER stood before or met President Trump. TIME was forced to issue a correction and apology. How LOW can the LIBERAL media go? Well, we have a little over four months before the midterm elections to find out.

With the Dems fixing against Bernie, getting questions ahead of time for debate, making up Trump Dossier to get a warrant to start this whole Russia thing, constant obstruction, spreading border photos from 2014, etc, etc. Only one way to vote…..Vote Republican…..help Trump do his job that he wants to do and he isn’t a Politician!
