“Google has a new version of Android coming to your phone with features that will make it act more like an iPhone X,” Todd Haselton reports for CNBC.
“Right now, most Android phones have three software buttons on the bottom of the screen,” Haselton reports. “One returns users to the previous screen, one takes you right back to the home screen and a third brings up a menu”
Haselton reports, “That’s going to change. Android P removes two of the buttons — the back and the menu button — so that you can use gestures and a single home button to interact with Android.”

“It took some getting used to on the iPhone X but after six months I find it much more seamless to use than Apple’s other iPhones with a home button,” Haselton reports. “Android users who rely on the current layout might also need to adjust, but it works really well and makes it much quicker to switch apps and move around the phone’s user interface.”

I honestly wouldn’t mind if Apple started copying Google in regards to their AI assistant.
Siri sucks…period.
Theo will have to become “privacy invasive” just as google is. And this is making the real difference.
Everything Google sucks, similar to Microsoft, Amazon and Walmart.
I’m waiting for the iPad interface to copy my iPhone X.
The Duplex feature as absolutely amazing ..
So is continued conversations..

Agreed. If it works properly I think the best fit would probably be a Tier 1 call center employee. We’re already used to working with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems, Duplex would make it a lot friendlier and we would somewhat accept the voice as a robot.

Google ahead of Apple in hardware only on the Bloomberg channel.
Word has it that Google Assistant is now 10X smarter than Siri. Which is saying if Google Assistant can hold a conversation on a college level, Siri would still be in kindergarten. I have to admit that Continued Conversations seems quite decent. I’m still not particularly interested in holding conversations with a computer but I suppose a lot of people actually do enjoy it.
It’s annoying to have to hear about how much smarter Google Assistant is than Siri but Apple can only blame itself for not doubling down on Siri over the years. I honestly hope Apple is working hard to update Siri enough so it won’t be considered the dunce of smart assistants.
I hate saying this …but
I seriously doubt Apple, at WWDC, will impress as much as Google did at IO … or even close!

No Google. Ripping off more Apple IP doesn’t forgive the fact that Android is your most evil product. Solve the fragmentation and Google Play Store security HELL and then we’ll be impressed. Until then, as they say, Lipstick On A Pig…

Looking up the Blackberry 10 (1/2013) that is claimed the iPhone X ‘copied’, the gestures don’t seem that new.

Let’s go back to the Palm PDA, and back even further to the Apple Newton. And the various touch screen monitors well before that. It’s all technology evolution. Who ripped off what from whom is in the moment. The technology moves on anyway…
But it is good fun to rip on Google, seeing as they perpetrate plenty of evil in the world, blatant ripoff being one demonstrable aspect. At least there is also real competition going on…
(…As opposed to China: Criminal Nation, where ripoff is the consistently stated and enacted manifesto, seeing as they’ve wrecked their political system to quash incentive for invention and innovation).
I’m all for cross-pollination of ideas. Just find it annoying when one company claims ‘copying’ when there is ample proof that the ‘copied’ feature has been in released devices in recent past. Personally I feel the notch is just a way to finagle claim of a slightly larger display than it would be w/o the ‘ears’.
