Apple has debuted a new long-form commercial for the company’s Beats brand starring Irish professional mixed martial artist and professional boxer Conor McGregor.
Apple’s description on YouTube states:

I don’t care who wins or loses or if you like the headphones or not but damn, that was a cool commercial. If that was done for any other company the critics here on this site would say Apple needs to step up. I think it was very well done and the people who made it should be prouder their work.

I guess Apple must be celebrating the underdog and wants people to identify Apple as the underdog that makes superior producs for underdogs like McGregor. I think it’s a winning strategy because he will have given it outmost effort when he loses. He would win by losing, just as Apple will win if he loses.
And should he win against unsurmountable odds, which they really are, then Apple associates itself with a heroic winner.
Ireland’s fantango with the overly aggressive EU would even help Apple’s case in the real of pubic opinion. What if then McGregor makes a commercial about how Apple paid all taxes in Ireland? That would be cool.
The Irish need their own Brexit and it’s sorely needed.
The British still haven’t gotten theirs after over a year later on voting for it.
