“Apple now has a new TV show, a reality series showing app developers vying for new investment dollars. It’s called Planet of the Apps,” Edmund Lee reports for Recode. “Kitschy.”
“The series was designed to promote Apple Music, since that’s where the show will be distributed, but it’s actually a way to differentiate Apple Music from Spotify,” Lee reports. “Planet was produced by Ben Silverman, a former co-chair of NBC Entertainment who was also behind hit shows like Jane the Virgin and the U.S. version of The Office.”

If Tim Cook had any clue, he’d fire Eddy Cue.
If Apple had some chutzpah, they’d fire both putz and faygeleh.

So, they aspire to be MTV? This is beyond lame. Good GOD, so very, very far beyond lame. If they had a clue they’d start from scratch, their entire executive team is . . . just so LAME. Sigh.
Apple is getting really annoying. They should stick to their game, make great computers and phones, and invent things people love and want to buy and use.
Eddie Clueless Cue’s content is not going to draw anything but flies. For the life of me I cannot understand how he still has his job. Maybe he has compromising pics of someone…hmm.
Nothing Apple ties to it’s rental rap service (Beats dba Apple Music) is going to make me sign up to rent what I already own. Music worth listening to is worth owning, so maybe Rap/Hip-Hop and rental streaming are a good match. Your grandparents listened and enjoyed the music of their youth decades after the fact, your parents probably will. I doubt anyone will be paying rent to listen to “Chance The Rapper”.
They say Washington DC Politics is Hollywood for ugly people. Rap is a music substitute for those who cannot sing or play a guitar, piano, etc.
What I wouldn’t give for a real set of macOS internals including macOS Server.
Instead of this crap, if Cook is serious about all his social justice bullshit, take a billion and go feed some people. All that money, and I have to watch Safari crashing. All that money and they make reality tv shows? Seriously? They could have the finest engineers from the 4 corners of the globe notwithstanding any stupid immigration ban. We could have computers that work like the ones on TV!
But he gives us reality fscking tv.
If you’re going to do it, at least bring back Queer Eye for The Straight Guy.
Put from start to employable engineering courses on iTunes.
Put on a show called “Call us about your bugs” and let engineers answer questions directly from the audience.
Put on in depth programming documenting how Macs are used in the enterprise.
He’ll show us how Macs are used inside Apple. Prove that they are more than just email
Machines while Windows and Linux do all the real work.
I swear Tim is in love with the cocktail set in Hollywood and wants to be a part of that world more than be CEO of Apple.
At least that’s the way it seems. That guy is running around getting on tv more in a week than Jobs did his entire career.
