Hidden Apple Watch feature helps find your lost iPhone in the dark

“You probably already know that you can use your Apple Watch to ping your iPhone as long as they’re close to each other,” Jason Cipriani reports for CNET.

“(Open Control Center on your Watch and tap on the Ping icon, the button with the iPhone and sound waves coming out of it.) Your iPhone will beep a few times; you then repeat the process until you find your phone,” Cipriani reports. “But wait, there’s more.”

Cipriani reports, “If you long-press on the Ping icon the iPhone will not only play a sound, but the flash will blink several times to help you find your iPhone in the dark.”

    1. Yes, we misplaced ours this past weekend and still can not locate it. I want it back since it allows us to control volume on the TV. I didn’t realize it, but the remote controls from the older Apple TVs work with it just fine, just no volume.

  1. I don’t know if this is “hidden”; I’ve been using this feature all the time since I first got my watch. It’s invaluable, as I lose things incredibly easy. My phone was in my lap and I didn’t know where it was! Anyway, the pinging option is fantastic. If people don’t know about it, they should!
