The MacBook Pro series came to life after almost four years and it is certainly one of the finest works by Apple,” Sami Khan writes for International Business Times. “The Cupertino-based tech giant unveiled three new MacBook Pro machines on Thursday, two of which change the way we use laptops.”
“Apple’s MacBook Pro 13-inch and 15-inch machines have something special in store for you. Does it make more sense to be smearing your fingers around on your notebook’s screen or on a spacious trackpad that’s designed specifically and solely to be touched? I have to agree with Kahn.
I originally thought Apple would make the whole palm rest, track pad area an iPhone like touch pad.
Apple obviously worked out a better way that uses the normal position of fingers on the keyboard to get to the interactive function icons in the Touch Bar.

Ok, now that might have been an equally cool idea. A giant trackpad of iPhone Plus size, which runs iOS. That with a touch bar might be extremely interesting, but a battery killer to be sure.
That was my prediction 6 months ago which I wanted.
My guess is an OLED iPHone like track pad would use very little power, though. I would guess the backlighting also might go to sleep when you were only doing typing.
Probably would make the thing even more expensive than it already is, but I’d be ok if it eventually took that direction.
The Touch Bar seems like a rather nice upgrade to me. I’m not sure what most users are looking for but the social types will definitely like all those emojis staring them in the face. I don’t like that emoji stuff at all, but I definitely appreciate the context UI of the Touch Bar. It’s like adding dozens of physical keys to a keyboard and once you familiarize yourself with those context keys, I think they’d be very helfpul in speeding up workflow. I’ve always liked customizable function keys. I don’t know why there is so much griping about the new MacBook Pro being not enough of an upgrade. I’d sure be delighted to have one of the new 15″ models. I definitely like the TouchID button for unlocking and Apple Pay. I guess I’m completely out of the loop when it comes to Apple laptops. I think they’re terrific. My only beef is with the desktop and pro Macs being weak on graphic capabilities.
I think the Microsoft Surface Studio is a nice concept especially for those who like using a pen for input and editing. I also think the guts of the computer being in a separate box is much better than putting it in the display area because I believe it would be much easier to upgrade without having to pull apart the display. I’d also think it would be easier to keep cool. That’s just my opinion.
Just been to the Regent Street Apple Store and played with the 15″ model. Left an hour later, lighter by £2k come December, for the 13″ 2.9GHz 512 SSD.
And I don’t do impulse buying 😳

I officially don’t get it. You have to lean over the trackpad and keyboard to get to it, when 90% of the time it would be more ergonomic just to use a keyboard shortcut or make a gesture on the trackpad (the trackpad is excellent BTW, that bit I do like). There are many great things about these laptops, graphics support being the greatest of all, but the touch bar? That to me is a bit of a gimmick.
