iPhone 7 Plus review: One month later

iMore’s Rene Ritchie, Serenity Caldwell, Mikah Sargent, Lory Gil, and Daniel Bader revisit their iPhone 7 reviews one month on.

“One month ago, people waited in line at the Apple Store or at home for the UPS truck, eager to be among the first to get their hands on iPhone 7,” iMore writes. “Now, having lived with either the regular sized iPhone 7 or the larger iPhone 7 Plus for four weeks, we’ve had a real chance to test out the new cameras, see if we could survive without the 3.5 mm headphone jack, experiment with water resistance, get used to the force touch Home button, put the new battery though its paces, and see if the wide gamut screen and A10 Fusion processor really made a difference.”

iMore writes, “So, how’s iPhone 7 worked out?”

MacDailyNews Take: The iPhone 7 Plus is, by a significant margin, the best smartphone ever produced. It’s noticeably faster, has a noticeably better display, offers longer battery life and more storage, is now water-resistant, and captures better images and video than our iPhone 6s Plus units, which we loved until the day we unboxed our Jet Black 256GB iPhone 7 Plus units.

The last month for us has been an absolute joy on the pocket computer front. Of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Steve Jobs would be very proud.

  1. I can say that my new iPhone 7 plus is the best iPhone I have ever purchased. Finally, Apple has got it right. I stream a lot during the day, mostly music and talk shows and never had to charge it up. Everything about the phone is great, even the trade in from Verizon for my old iPhone 5. The camera’s are fantastic.

  2. The 6s I got for my birthday was simply the first phone that I enjoyed. I am glad to hear that the 7 is so good.
I usually wait until the “s” versions arrive, so next year it’s either the “8” or 7s. Look forward to it!

  3. Had the 7 for a week and was stunned by the great camera. Had an oportunity to swap for a 7 plus and took it for a 14 day trial because of the better 2 lens camera and stunning color…

I’m sticking with the plus because of the longer battery life, incredible screen, which makes reading a pleasure and a more frequent alternative in addition to the incredible low light, 2 lens camera, despite the large size which is certainly tolerable but still less prefferable to me than the 7.

  4. I love the 7 plus, it took the place of the iPads. I have come to the conclusion that iPads other than maybe the largest Pro are ergonomically impractical to use. The mini I could never feel comfortable holding, and the original not fun either. The biggest Pro is a tool and not really meant to be hand held for long periods of time.

So for me the perfect iOS devices are the SE, which is my go-to device, the Plus for hand held content consumption and photography, and the 12″ pro for content creation.

If you must make do, and having both an SE and. Plus, then the regular 4.7″ iPhone is a good device to settle for., but neither big enough or small enough. It’s a compromise of a device.

  5. Love it. By far the best ever. However, had problems with phone turning off and thought it was batter/ connect charger: 98% battery; holding the phone in hand, can accidentally turn off phone by holding sleep+volume down for few secs, but not long enough to force/reset… PROBLEM. Oh well, what are you going to do? They had to put the sleep and volume control across from each other and I’m still not completely used to that/ attempts at turning up the volume almost always lock the phone!
