Apple releases iOS 10.1 public beta with Portrait mode for iPhone 7 Plus

“Coming just a day after Apple released the iOS 10.1 developer beta 1 with the new depth of field effect, the iOS 10.1 public beta is also now available,” Greg Barbosa reports for 9to5Mac. “Users installing the public beta on the iPhone 7 Plus will see the new beta Portrait mode under their camera settings.”

“Apple’s public beta program is free to participate in unlike its paid developer program,” Barbosa reports. “The iOS 10.1 will be released officially to everyone later this year, and the public beta allows more users to test pre-release versions of the software update before it’s finalized.”

Barbosa reports, “For a detailed walkthrough on how to install the iOS 10 public beta, check out Jeff Benjamin‘s video tutorial below.”

MacDailyNews Take: Again, the bokeh effect get a little wonky in spots, depending on the composition, subject, etc. (works best for portraits of people, hence the name), but, for a beta, it’s an impressive and unmatched, iPhone-only, capability!
