“The memory chip industry is set for an upturn in the third quarter of 2016 as inventories in the market have almost been cleared in the last two quarters and price hikes have become more apparent, according to industry source,” Julian Ho and Steve Shen report for DigiTimes.
“Increasing built-in memory capacity at next-generation smartphones, including new iPhone devices,” Ho and Shen report, “will further ramp up demand for memory products in the third quarter, said sources, noting that the mobile DRAM capacity of the next-generation iPhone is expected to increase to 3GB from 2GB previously, while those for new Android phones are expected to raise to 6GB from 4GB.”

I mean… I agree that it’s more optimized, but we all know more RAM, like horsepower and sex, is better. 😉
I hope this rumor applies to both the 4.7″ and 5.5″.
Great. My flagship iPhone 6 Plus will suffer even more from OS/app bloat with it’s “paltry” 1GB. Most apps unload way too easily. Can I share some of my 128GB (not swap)?
Just looked up server memory from Kingston 4GB 2.4 GHZ registered memory with ECC packaged as DDR4 memory, ~30.00 USD. For the amount we pay for these iPhone They should at least have 8GB. Apple has always skimped on the memory capabilities.
This is os ODD, I’d so much rather see a nice even binary multiple, skip over 3 and go right to 4GB.
