Pokémon GO sets new all-time Apple App Store record for most downloads in first week

“There is still no official word on the number of times the incredibly popular Pokémon Go game has been downloaded, but Apple today confirmed to Polygon that the game has broken a record,” Brian Crecente reports for Polygon.

“Pokemon Go has had more downloads in its first week than any other app in history, Apple said today,” Crecente reports. “The company declined to give any specific numbers.”

“Nintendo referred us to The Pokémon Company for any such data,” Crecente reports. “We’ve reached out to The Pokémon Company for more specific numbers and will update this story if they release them.”

  1. Popular or not, the Poké-zombies look ridiculous stumbling around with their phones held up. On one of my running courses, there’s a place where it’s so bad, I have weave back and forth through the hoard. It’s like I’m the one playing an “avoid the zombie” game!

  2. I’ve played Pokémon Go for a week, now. It’s a fun game, but there’s a lot of potential for growth, but more importantly, stability. It has improved quite a bit over the last week, but the poor servers are still getting slammed.
