Irony Alert: Samsung sues Huawei for alleged patent violations

“Samsung Electronics Co. sued Chinese smartphone maker Huawei for allegedly violating six of its patents in the latest move in a series of deepening patent disputes between Asian smartphone giants,” Youkyung Lee reports for The Associated Press.

“The South Korean company said Friday that it took legal action to defend its intellectual property despite efforts to resolve the dispute amicably,” Lee reports. “‘At all times we have faithfully negotiated with other patent holders for the fair licensing of technology in order to ensure fair competition and continued growth in the industry,’ the company said in an emailed statement. ‘However, despite our best efforts to resolve this matter amicably, it has regrettably become necessary to take legal action in order to defend our intellectual property.'”

“An intellectual property court in Beijing said on its official Weixin account that Samsung sued Huawei and a department store in Beijing and has claimed 161 million yuan ($24.14 million) in damages,” Se Young Lee and Donny Kwok report for Reuters. “Samsung asked the two defendants to stop production and sales of products the South Korean firm says infringes on its patents, including Huawei’s Mate 8 and Honor smartphones, the court said.”

Lee and Kwok report, “Huawei became the first Chinese handset vendor to ship more than 100 million smartphones in a year in 2015 when a 44 percent jump in its shipments defied a market slowdown.”

    1. It is oddly peculiar that the trolls give non-Apple headlines like this a miss. Perhaps through some Moriarty slip-up, no talking points had been prepared on the subject for the Wanker Street Irregulars for their daily outings to discredit Apple and all else that is good and decent. I’ve been forced to conclude that trolls don’t have imagination enough to spin every technology story into an anti-Apple tirade without direction from a mastermind. More’s the pity.

      1. ‘Wanker Street Irregulars’ <-Choice Hannaghism!

It's possible that the 🍎🐻🐂💩 wankers use bots to filter through posts of key words. When a filter alarm goes off, the paid-brigade is let loose on it with the fake nicks and their fake posts, followed by the fake *DING*-ups.

Interesting is the thought that the comments could be bot-generated as well. But IMHO we're still far from having actual AI. Therefore, the incoherence of bot-generated posts would be telling. That's not to say we haven't actually SEEN bot-generated posts. There have certainly been plenty of incoherent, WTF is their first language nonsense posted here, as I’ve pointed out a few times. It’s more likely that there is at least one wanton waged willy wanker who oversees the filter alarm triggering article posts. I wonder where that sad person fits on the psychopath scale.
