“For years we’ve been treated to a few common memes from high ranking members of the technorati elite politburo,” Wil Gomez writes for Mac360.
“Apply is doomed. Microsoft is dying. Hardware will be free. Software should be free. At the other end of the scale, Amazon can do no wrong (even without profits), and Google will rule the world,” Gomez writes. “Well, a funny thing happened on the way to the future. It’s called reality. And in this reality Google’s daddy, Alphabet, is crumbling.”
“Well over 90-percent of Google’s growing revenue and profit machine is generated in 2016 just the way it was nearly 18 years ago when the company launched. Search engine advertising,” Gomez writes. “The Alphabet emperor has no clothes. That fact just hasn’t made the mainstream news yet.”

MacDailyNews Take: It can’t crumble if it never was. Google’s old empire certainly doesn’t pay like it used to, that much is for damn sure.
We don’t call Alphaboogle Our Lady of Perpetual Beta and/or, interchangeably, Our Lady of Transitory Endeavor, for nothing.

“Well over 90-percent of Google’s growing revenue and profit machine is generated in 2016 just the way it was nearly 18 years ago…”
So, Wil…. what? You thought that would change because they changed the org chart?
No. He’s talking about the huge vacuum of promised innovation and invention expected from Google that has NOT appeared. Instead, it’s all trinkets and for-show rubbish.
“expected”? Really? Did anyone ACTUALLY expect anything?
Derek did.
Wall Street does and that is what keeps the price on the stock up.
That’s why the GOOG price is astronomical. When the expectation ends, so does the balloon ride. Bring a parachute.
Was it about reshuffling tax entities and corporate accounting centers or was the change made for a meaningful realignment of management responsibilities to improve focus and accountability? You be the judge.
Most companies today do nothing meaningful. They are politically bases decisions and focused on Corp greed and profit for Corp officers.
“The Alphabet emperor has no clothes. That fact just hasn’t made the mainstream news yet.”
Darn Alphabet/Google! The Gee Whiz! factor is wearing away. You’d better rev up some new vacuous toys to wow the masses or someone might figure out that your GOOG balloon is full of hot air.
Autonomous driving airplanes? Darn, we already have those.
Oh yeah! Your ‘Project Adam’ or ‘DeepMind’ or whatever your AI thingy is called. That should hold the sucker’s attention for a few months. Replacing actually intelligent doctors with fake intelligent software gadgets. That’s the ticket!
Alpha ponzi is about to become the most expensive corporate failure in history. This will be core instructional material on how not to run a business for centuries from now. And no one will ever forget that Eric T Schmidt was a way bigger liar than Bernie Madoff ever was.
As long as they are the best at search the empire will go on…. ( Youtube and Android are super powerful assets too….)
Key is…. Can Apple dethrone google in search… Its a tall order… But a critical one If not for anyting but letting Erick Mole Schidth have it where the sun dont shine.
Alphabet’s driving car technology is a very valuable asset which I’m sure will pay big sometime.
Only if you want to add to the 2 deaths already from driverless vehicles.
Lol Google. The only good thing about Android is it’s ability to have side loaded apps, and even that’s crumbling since iOS9. And no one’s mentioned what’s possible with side loading in iOS10 yet.
They promised us flying cars and we got 160 characters.
yay.
