“Over the years Apple has filed for various ‘Works With’ trademarks such as ‘Works with AirPrint’ and iBeacon and ‘Works with CarPlay,'” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.
“Today the US Patent and Trademark Office published three new ‘Works with’ trademarks that were filed last Friday by Apple,” Purcher reports. “The three cover a new series specifically for the Mac covering iMovie and Final Cut Pro X.”
Purcher reports, “All three trademarks were filed under International Class 009 with the same verbiage as follows: ‘computer software; cameras; computer hardware; computer peripheral devices; audio-video equipment; wearable computer hardware; wearable computer peripherals; handheld computers; tablet computers; mobile telephones; peripherals for mobile devices; sound recording and reproducing apparatus; digital audio and video players and recorders; wireless communication devices for the transmission of voice, data, images, audio, video, and multimedia content.'”

MacDailyNews Take: Hmm. Final Cut Pro X is macOS-only, but iMovie works on both macOS and iOS devices. Could this be a way to mark Apple A-series-powered Macs differently from those that are Intel-powered?
The MDN take is a real stretch.
My guess is that it’s just extensions/filters.
