Jim Cramer: Reports of Apple iPhone’s demise in China are greatly exaggerated

“Don’t let the rumors that Apple’s iPhone 6 isn’t selling fool you — the smartphone is selling, said TheStreet’s founder Jim Cramer on Friday,” Laura Sanicola reports for TheStreet. “‘It’s not true…the phone is selling,’ said Jim Cramer, TheStreet’s founder and manager of the Action Alerts PLUS portfolio, which owns Apple, following discussion with the company’s general counsel in China. ‘They don’t expect there will be any interruption.'”

“Beijing intellectual property regulators have reportedly banned the tech giant from selling models of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in the city due to similarity to an existing Chinese phone, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday,” Sanicola reports. “Cramer repeatedly said that The Journal story was not reported correctly — there was an April ruling, he said, but the iPhones are still on the shelves.”

“Apple released a statement announcing plans to appeal the ruling,” Sanicola reports. “‘iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE models are all available for sale today in China,’ Apple said in the Friday statement. ‘We appealed an administrative order from a regional patent tribunal in Beijing last month and as a result the order has been stayed pending review by the Beijing IP Court.'”

  1. this issue has far far bigger implications than winning IP appeals, it is a deep level of corruption which will result in very little long run success for apple, am deeply disappointed in cook’s naivety.
