Today from the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, Sling TV announced the debut of its live and on-demand Internet TV service on Apple TV. The over-the-top provider’s suite of services, including its single-stream, beta multi-stream, Sling Latino and Sling International offerings, are available to Sling TV customers once they download the app from the App Store on fourth-generation Apple TV.
“Delivering the best TV experience for our viewers means being on the devices people want to use — Apple TV is our most requested platform, and we’re excited to finally bring Sling TV to Apple TV today,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV, in a statement. “Incorporating Apple TV innovations like touch with the Siri Remote will enable Sling TV’s new UI to deliver the highly polished experience Apple fans have come to expect.”
Sling TV on Apple TV
Sling TV lets Apple TV users watch the best live and on-demand content, including some of the most popular sporting events, breaking news, TV series, movies and more, starting at $20 per month.
New Sling TV customers have access to an exclusive offer to purchase a 32GB Apple TV for $89 when they pre-pay for three months of Sling TV’s single-stream service or beta multi-stream service. New users can sign up for Sling TV and take advantage of the Apple TV offer by visiting sling.com/apple.
New content-centric user interface
Also debuting today on Apple TV is Sling TV’s new user interface (UI). The updated UI offers a more customizable and personalized viewing experience and improves content discovery of the thousands of hours of programming available on Sling TV.
In the first phase of the new UI roll-out, Sling TV customers gain access to a new personalization feature called “My TV,” which allows customers to select their favorite channels, resume watching where they left off on select programs and set favorite shows and movies for easy, one-click access. Additionally, the new UI includes enhanced content discovery, improved navigation and the ability to easily access content based on genres.
Sling TV programming updates
Sling TV also launched 12 Viacom channels across its beta multi-stream and single-stream services, including Comedy Central, BET, Spike, MTV, Nick Jr. and many others. For a full list of new channels added to the service today, visit blog.sling.com.

Zzzzzzzz…… 😴 zzzzzzzzz…. Huh?!! 😯 Oh. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Forgive me but where’s the revolutionary UI for AppleTV? Where’s the backward compatibility with the previous generation box? Where the speed increase to make the box more responsive? Where’s the download speed increase? I mean, how come I can stream Netflix without interruption, but downloading a movie from the iTunes Store takes hours?
Downloading an iTunes movie takes you hours? You got other problems dude. I can watch an iTunes movie within a few seconds of hitting purchase or rent.
You completely missed the implications of what I was saying. It’s not a problem with my internet or my wifi. I can stream Netflix and Youtube on demand without issue. I think it’s Apple’s local servers that are not able to keep up.
Netflix and YouTube are paying for large bandwidth and I’m thinking that Apple is not. I don’t know how else to explain it.
Cut the cord 2 months ago. Using Apple TV all the time. No issues at all watching movies or TV shows.
You’re doing something wrong.
Comcast upped their data cap to 1000 GB as of June 1 so I’m considering dropping the tv service myself now that sling is on. I’m heading over to see what channels they have available.
Totally agree, even if you had a 1.5mbps connection, you’d be able to stream the movie within 15 minutes. You’re either lying or you’re doing something wrong.
Now if you’re talking about downloading a complete HD title, then it’s your internet connection speed. Check with your provider… That’s not apples fault.
Wrong. Please read my response above.
I don’t recall Apple ever saying the 3rd generation will get new features.. I don’t have any performance issues on my ATV4, also don’t have any issues with download performance from iTunes.. Netflix looks at your connection and sends you a stream based on your bandwidth, its its slow, your quality goes down.. get more bandwidth
Enjoy your data caps on your broadband service cord cutters.
AT&T Uverse will now enforce 600 GB caps.
AT&T sucks anyway.
Don’t see Fox News or One America News on the Sling offerings. Pass.
Why so late the fire tv had it last year. I assume Apple held out hoping to have their own service
Like it or not cable extortionists, Apple wil stream live TV and will develop and engineer the ‘second best’ alternative to you guys, into a much better delivery alternative.
Apple’s in, your days of monopoly are over.
