Why Apple should bundle wireless Beats ‘EarPods’ with iPhone 7

“Since Apple acquired Dr. Dre’s Beats headphone business back in May of 2014, the two brands have been content to stay separate entities — in branding and function — but that should all change with the arrival of iPhone 7,” Mark Reschke writes for T-GAAP.

“To put it mildly, recent reports of Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 7 feature set have been gloomy, and anything to give iPhone 7 a boost in the flat high-end smartphone market should be a priority for Apple,” Reschke writes. “Shipping iPhone 7 with no headphone jack and wireless Beats earpods, slightly thinner chassis, A10 processor, with dual-camera technology and updated OS, gives the new iPhone the best chance of success, which could very well best iPhone 6S and 6S Plus sales volumes (topping 6 sales is virtually impossible at this time).”

We are quite confident that the “iPhone 7” will be a very compelling device, as will “iPhone 8” which, hopefully, will follow iPhone 7 directly in 2017. Death to the “S.” — MacDailyNews Take, May 3, 2016

  1. Dream on. Apple didn’t even supply a simple USB C to USB A cable with their expensive MacBook. It would have cost maybe a buck. But you pay for EVERYTHING with Apple. There’s no way they’d give away a wireless earpods. I’m surprised they include any, given their cheapness with includes.

    1. Apple used to include some stuff with its products, but no so much anymore. Part of the change was waste avoidance…for example, including an eSATA cable that very few people ever used is ridiculous. In addition, Apple is a business and you must be aware that their gross margin is generally in the range of 38.5 to 40% or so, year in and year out. They can’t do that by giving away a bunch of stuff with their mobile miracles of design. When you can buy a mobile handheld supercomputer that runs on a battery for hours and hours, you should not complain about having to purchase accessories.

If you don’t like it, don’t buy Apple products. I am so tired of people complaining about the cost. Do you see Samsung doing any better? If so, it is out of desperation, not sentiment or altruism.

Calling Apple “cheap” is bullshit. If you choose to buy what is offered, then you did it knowingly and your misplaced yearning for freebies is your own problem. No one is forcing you to buy a MacBook or an iPhone.

Personally, I have generally been well satisfied with the value I receive with my Apple hardware. That PowerBook in the mid-1990s was a rare exception, but even that was OK. I buy the necessary cables and adapters when I need them. I often purchase third party accessories to save money (Anker is good), but you have to be careful about the quality. Anyway, quit griping.

  2. When people should just let Apple do their thing, that is, do more than some tech analyser ever could dream of. Ugh, MDN doesn’t need to post every little new crap article. If they want to “call it” on articles they want to prove wrong… There’s a bookmark function in Safari for that. Now please, back to news?

  3. “iPhone 7… topping 6 sales is virtually impossible at this time.”

What no-one seems to consider is that Apple doesn’t need to top iPhone 6 sales with the 7.
Instead the combined sales with the 7, SE and other models will take all of the profit in the industry and both the top and mid range market.

      1. New iPhone buyers are going to be cut off from how many good legacy – and ongoing – headphones…??

And this makes our lives better how exactly…?

I got less is more up to a point. But this likelihood and the portless PinkBook cross a line for me.

(and yeah, year, it has a port – and for only whatever cost in dongles you can McGuyver something (needlessly expensive and butt-ugly together). Screw Ive and the “aesthetic” he rode in on….

  4. Wireless headphones for a wireless phone, this is the natural evolution, guess one should go back to a wired phone….deal breaker that is funny! Thank god Apple doesn’t listen to the masses or else you wouldn’t even have a iPhone!

  5. “If” Apple actually removes the headphone jack from the iPhone 7, there will more then likely be a small adaptor in the box.. For those of you that using an adaptor is just to painful, welcome to being stuck in the past..
