MacRumors “seems to believe the next launch of the iPhone could see some major differences between the basic and Plus models,” Bill Maurer writes for Seeking Alpha. “With iPhone sales struggling and Apple trying to reach a greater spectrum of consumers, perhaps now is the perfect time to create a more significant iPhone tiering system.”
“MacRumors indicates Apple will stick with the same general screen sizes for the basic and Plus models of the iPhone 7. However, the Plus model could have added features such as a dual-lens camera, a smart connector and perhaps more RAM that would be needed for the new camera system,” Maurer writes. “By giving the Plus model more and more features, it would likely allow the company to charge more of a premium for the device than the $100 difference seen between the 6s and 6s Plus models.”
“Apple has already created a major tiering system when it comes to the iPad. The Air 2 model starts at $399 for its 16GB model, the 32GB 9.7 inch Pro model starts at $599, and the 32GB 12.9 inch Pro model starts at $799,” Maurer writes. “I think Apple could do almost the same with the iPhone, given the SE model currently starts at $399.”

Apple should spin-off the iPhone department. The whole project is in decline and iPhone can’t innovate because Apple’s R&D is tied up with watch bands.
If Apple spins off the iPhone, Apple will stop losing money and can get back to other, more profitable projects.

3 versions/sizes, screen edge to edge, water proof, 256 gig, dual cam for the higher end, better power consumtion, 401 pixels per inch standardized, liquidmetal, USB-C and the retina display, as seen by Steve Jobs, brought to completion.
So long as “Plus” doesn’t mean only the enormous models. I’d happily buy the Plus models in a reasonable form factor.

Hey Apple? Make Siri work. Make iCloud work. Make photos/videos sync to Photos on Mac from iDevice. Make photo/sharing work. Give more iCloud storage. Make Apple Music work. Make iTunes Match work. Want to who does? Amazon. Amazon iOS apps work flawlessly. Amazon music, Amazon photos, heck even Flickr app works better than Apple photos sync.
Apple you build great hardware. It just doesn’t work that well anymore because iOS is the important bit. Apple just doesn’t get that anymore. Another shiny new Jon Ive device just with Apple apps that don’t work. Well done.
I second that. Apple is still head and shoulders above the competition, but glaring software issues stand out like a sore thumb for a company that prides itself on excellence. There’s too much to list, but I’ll just add that the camera, and remote apps on my Watch simply don’t work anymore. I’ve troubleshooted and reset my device without effect.
My bet is on the plus name being changed to iPhone Pro! Or the Pro appears as a new model.

Am I the only one who’s sick of all the different product lines and inconsistent hard to remember naming of things these days? iPad Air 2, IPad mini, iPad Pro, 3 types of watches, MacBook Air, MacBook, Macbook with Retina display, MacBook Pro, the smaller iPad Pro, the iPhone 6, 6S, 6 Plus, 6S Plus and iPhone SE. To name but a few.
Maybe if Apple got back to a core range of products and focused more on getting them right instead of trying to appeal to the masses and bringing out minor updates every year with no big wow factor they would continue to profit as highly as they have in the past.
I hate to say it but they’re really missing Steve Jobs. I’ve been a fanboy for a long time and own a lot of the products I mentioned, but they’re starting to appear lazy and only interested in keeping the shareholders happy. They need to Think Different.
