SanDisk has launched the next-generation iXpand Flash Drive, a mobile storage device designed to help people quickly and easily free up space on their iPhone and iPad with up to 128GB of additional capacity. Leef ripoff?
iXpand v1 shipped before Leef. I have one of the first ones having ordered it on the first day to pre-order.
It is nice having a Jump Drive that can go between iOS and Mac OS X. I will have to see the new drive before buying one as my 64GB Model is still working well.
LeefCo has had a similar device for some time and they also have one that accepts MICRO SD cards so they’ll serve any capacity you want.

I never realized that there was as many as “many iPhone users” that needed this.

Hmm… iCloud is $2.99 a month for 200GB ($.99 for 50 GB). I fail to see how this is cost effective. Also, I have to wonder, who would want to carry this thing around?
It is radically cost effective for accessing your 200GB.
How many times per month can you access your 200GB in the cloud with your data plan?

Me. I dont always trust the Cloud, and I often need/want acess to my files when the Cloud is not available…or reliable. !
Sure when everyone had Unlimited data but now it is costly to add data. Why not just have this and not have to buy a 64gb iPhone?
One thing is for trips this is nice for the kids I can load movies on it and they can have lots of stuff to watch where they are not using data or can’t use data.
For years apple would not allow expansion where android did and it made me so mad android users would say you know I can plug in an sd card and I can add any amount of data to my phone you can’t do that.

When they offer it as an encrypted drive (minimum FIPS 140-2 Level 2, preferably Level 3 or 4) with the already given features I’m in for a 128 GB or larger version!
Why would I want to have move all my data from an encrypted iPhone to an unencrypted drive? Answer: I wouldn’t.
You need your music to be encrypted? What kind of photos do you take that need to be encrypted?
Well, this is probably what Apple was waiting for, people to renovate and make things like this. Apple shouldn’t have to make expansion slots for SD cards, USB things, for those who don’t need it.
