“Though Nike is a bit late to fit into the Back to the Future timeline, the shoe manufacturer is set to make self-lacing shoes a reality,” Alex Hider reports for WPTV.
“On Wednesday, Nike announced the upcoming release of the HyperAdapt 1.0,” Hider reports, “the first widely available pair of sneakers with ‘adaptive lacing.'”
“A wearer’s heel will hit a sensor that will automatically tighten the sneaker around the foot,” Hider reports. “The shoe also includes two buttons that will tighten and loosen the laces.”
“Nike first developed the technology for use in their ‘Air Mag’ model, a shoe designed to look exactly like the pair that Marty McFly wears in Back to the Future Part II,” Hider reports. “Nike only produced 1,500 pairs of AIr Mags, which routinely sell for thousands of dollars on eBay.”

MacDailyNews Take: There will be an iPhone app for these.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Lynn Weiler” for the heads up.]
Yeah, hopefully Nike will make enough for the masses, and at a semi reasonable price.
There was just a shooting in a local suburban shoe store over a pair of Nike Airs. Unbelievably stupid!
Is this OS X or iOS news? Nope is just Lynn Weiler’s favorite movie. 🤔
I wonder if the battery will be user replaceable, or will the batteries be Air Rechargeable. 😉
